Veterinary Internal Medicine Specialist – Small Animal

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists | Buzzards Bay & Dennis, MA

Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist to join our growing specialty and emergency hospital team in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, Massachusetts.
 
This is an excellent opportunity for an internist who wants to practice high-quality medicine in a collaborative, well-supported environment with a strong referral base, advanced diagnostics, skilled nursing support, and significant hospital growth ahead.

About the Role

At CCVS, your diagnostic insight, clinical expertise, and communication skills will support complex patients, their families, referring veterinarians, and our multidisciplinary hospital teams.
 
In this role, you will provide comprehensive internal medicine services, including chronic and complex case management, consultations and second opinions, advanced diagnostic workups, specialized hospitalization, and procedures such as endoscopy and bronchoscopy.
 
You will work alongside emergency doctors, experienced nursing teams, and more than 20 specialists across nine specialties. This position offers a four-day workweek and supports both our Buzzards Bay and Dennis locations.

Expansion and Specialty Growth

CCVS is undergoing a major expansion designed to increase clinical space, strengthen specialty services, and support continued growth across Cape Cod, the Islands, and southeastern Massachusetts.
 
The expansion will add more clinical space, MRI, fluoroscopy, and three new specialty services: Neurology, Ophthalmology, and Dentistry. These additions will expand our diagnostic and treatment capabilities while creating more opportunities for collaboration across complex cases.
 
For an internist, this means working within a growing specialty ecosystem with enhanced tools, strong clinical support, and space designed for efficient patient care, teaching, and service development.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have:
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent
  • Residency training in small animal internal medicine
  • Board certification or board eligibility in small animal internal medicine
  • Massachusetts veterinary license, or eligibility to obtain
  • State and federal DEA license, or eligibility to obtain
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Commitment to collaborative specialty medicine and exceptional patient care

Compensation and Benefits

CCVS offers a competitive compensation package, including an annual salary of $200,000–$225,000 plus production, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and schedule. A sign-on bonus and relocation assistance are available.
