Job description

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Business Analyst at Garmin's location in Yarmouth, ME. This role requires you to currently live in ME. No relocation available. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering, documenting and effectively communicating user requirements for medium to large size projects of average to significant complexity for products across their strategic channel. This role will work closely with the project team, including multiple stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and deliverables are aligned with long-term business objectives as well as project objectives.
Essential Functions
  • Demonstrate advanced understanding of business analysis principles/methodologies; apply and adapt them into requirements which meet the needs of our global business climate
  • Manage user requirements for medium to large size projects of average to significant complexity for products across their strategic channel
  • Identify both basic and ancillary discrepancies and conflicts in application(s) requirements
  • Facilitate reconciliation of business tactical and strategic direction
  • Work closely with project team, including multiple stakeholders, to ensure requirements are understood and deliverables are aligned with long-term business objectives as well as project objectives
  • Regularly suggest improvements to business processes to multiple stakeholders and engineering business analysis processes
  • Partner with business stakeholders to serve as a functional subject matter expert for application/technology solutions and related business processes within engineering
  • Work with business stakeholders to determine application roadmap
  • Provide reliable solutions to a variety of problems using sound problem solving techniques
  • Mentor less experienced Engineering Business Analysts (Engineering Business Analyst 1)
  • Demonstrate proficient use and knowledge of established standards and procedures
  • Consistently demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  • Professionally approach situations in which conflict is present
  • Apply Garmin's Mission, Vision, Values and Quality Policy and enthusiastically exhibit enthusiasm for and a desire to see Garmin succeed
  • Partner with multiple global Garmin Product Managers to develop and document requirements using use cases, scenarios, complex and perhaps conflicting business workflow analyses
  • Abstract up from low-level information to detailed understanding of business needs

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Business or another related field AND a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Must demonstrate advanced understanding of business analysis principles/methodologies and possesses a demonstrated ability to adapt practices to meet business climate and needs
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in a large team or departmental setting
  • Demonstrates a sense of urgency, commitment and prioritizing to develop timely solutions
  • Experience in successful implementation of technology solutions
  • Consistent demonstration of quality and effectiveness in work documentation and organization
  • Able to approach conflict situations with professionalism and discernment

Desired Qualifications
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience and/or training
  • Experience with JIRA
  • Knowledge of human factors in UX design
  • International communications experience
