How much do full time breakfast cook jobs pay per hour?

As of Jun 28, 2026, the average hourly pay for full time breakfast cook in the United States is $16.08, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $13.94 and $18.27 per hour, depending on experience, location, and employer.

How do you become a breakfast cook?

To become a breakfast cook, you typically need some culinary training or experience in food preparation, especially in breakfast or breakfast-related dishes. Many employers prefer candidates with basic cooking skills, knowledge of food safety, and the ability to work early morning shifts. Gaining experience through entry-level kitchen jobs or culinary programs can improve your chances of securing a breakfast cook position.

How much does a breakfast chef make?

A full-time breakfast cook typically earns between $20,000 and $35,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and establishment type. Salaries can vary based on skill level, certifications, and whether the position includes tips or benefits.

What does a full time breakfast cook do?

A full time breakfast cook is responsible for preparing and cooking breakfast dishes in a restaurant, hotel, or food service setting. Their duties include setting up the kitchen, prepping ingredients, cooking eggs, pancakes, and other breakfast staples, and ensuring that all meals are served hot and on time. They also maintain cleanliness, follow food safety standards, and may assist in menu planning or inventory management. Breakfast cooks often work early morning shifts and must be efficient, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

What is the highest paying job for a cook?

The highest paying jobs for cooks typically include executive chefs, head chefs, or specialty chefs such as sushi or pastry chefs, especially in high-end restaurants or hotels. These roles often require extensive experience, culinary certifications, and leadership skills, and can offer salaries significantly higher than standard line cook positions.

What is the difference between Full Time Breakfast Cook vs Part Time Breakfast Cook?

AspectFull Time Breakfast CookPart Time Breakfast Cook
Work HoursTypically 35-40 hours per weekFewer hours, usually less than 30 per week
CertificationsFood safety certification often requiredSame certifications needed, but less frequently required
Work EnvironmentFull-service restaurants, hotels, cafesSimilar environments, often in smaller or part-time settings
Job ResponsibilitiesPreparing breakfast dishes, maintaining kitchen standardsSame responsibilities, with flexible scheduling

The main difference between a Full Time Breakfast Cook and a Part Time Breakfast Cook lies in work hours and scheduling. Full Time Breakfast Cooks work more hours weekly and often have a consistent schedule, while Part Time Breakfast Cooks work fewer hours with more flexible shifts. Both roles require similar skills, certifications, and work in comparable environments.

What jobs pay 2000 a day?

Full Time Breakfast Cooks typically do not earn $2000 a day; such high daily earnings are usually associated with specialized roles like high-level consultants, surgeons, or business executives. Most cooking jobs pay hourly wages, and earning that amount daily would require additional factors such as overtime, tips, or owning a restaurant. High-paying jobs often require advanced skills, certifications, or significant experience.

What are some common challenges faced by full-time breakfast cooks, and how can they be managed effectively?

Full-time breakfast cooks often face the challenge of working early morning hours and managing a high volume of orders in a short timeframe. Staying organized and preparing ingredients in advance (mise en place) can help streamline service and reduce stress during peak periods. Additionally, strong communication with kitchen staff and servers is crucial to ensure orders are accurate and timely. Adapting quickly to menu changes or special customer requests is also key to success in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Full Time Breakfast Cook, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Breakfast Cook, you need solid culinary skills, experience with breakfast foods, and a basic food safety certification. Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as grills, fryers, and commercial ovens, as well as knowledge of inventory and order systems, is typically required. Strong time management, teamwork, and the ability to handle high-pressure, fast-paced environments are crucial soft skills. These qualifications ensure consistent food quality, efficient service, and a safe, collaborative kitchen environment that meets customer expectations.
