Job description

The Job Details:

·         Assist commissioning of automated material handling equipment and warehouse control systems.

·         Supervise and mentor automation technicians and subordinates to ensure growth and development.

·         Provide guidance/direction to train Automation Controls Technicians and maintenance.

·         Review system layouts, schematics, field wiring, control devices and other automation components.

·         Assist Chief Engineer in developing a staff of mechanics and coordinating vendors to provide adequate Preventative Maintenance (PM) and emergency repair to support operations.

·         Expert on site regarding PLC logic, SCADA systems, and HMDI.

  • Coordinates with automation supervisor to setup, program, modify, and maintain a variety of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), SCADA (Supervisor Control and Data Acquisition) systems and Human Machine Interfaces (HMI).
  • Trouble-shoot automated and material handling equipment (i.e., motors, scanners, PLC components, power supplies, VFDs, photoeyes, encoders, etc.) and other electrical control equipment.
  • Use Savanna WCS to read I/O status and PLC fault codes.
  • Evaluate situations to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot, replace, and align sensors including photoeyes and proximity switches.
  • Identify spare parts needed for field requirements.
  • Utilize the Computerize Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) to manage and improve Preventive Maintenance (PM’s) and spare parts usage.
  • Assist with the development of maintenance SOP’s, maintenance procedures, and safety procedures.
  • Safety in accessing/operating heavy automated machinery as well as rigging, climbing, and working with high voltage and controls circuits.

What We Are Looking For:

Education

•      Technical Associates Degree or higher

•      Must pass Emergency Response Physical. (Lung Capacity and Auditory Testing are conducted annually)

Experience

·         -3+ years of project management experience, preferably within automated material handling and logistics applications.

·         -PLC, VFD, HMI, AGV, VGV, AC Motor Controls, Robotics knowledge, including programming and configuration.

·         -Three or more years engineering experience supporting, commissioning and troubleshooting PLC/PC industrial control systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley)

·         -Ability to schedule own tasks and handle all facets of assigned projects independently and with minimal supervision

·         -Have experience with Allen Bradley /Siemens PLC HW/SW platforms.

·         -Safety orientation with high voltage power supplies

·         -Hands-on experience with industrial networks.

·         -Experience and skill in analyzing control systems and troubleshooting issues.

·         -Root cause analysis / problem-solving skills.

·         -Supervision
