Overview

Position: Anti Human Trafficking Community Engagement Specialist 

Department: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries - New Day                                                                    

Availability of Position: Immediate            

Schedule: Part Time, Monday-Wednesday 9:00am-5:00pm, Thursday 5:00pm - 9:00pm                                         

Reporting Relationship: Drop-in Center  and Outreach Services Program Manager

Salary/Grade: $17.00- $19.00/ hr; 74 Non-Exempt

Responsibilities

Position Overview: The Anti-Human Trafficking Community Engagement Specialist (CES) will work with the Salvation Army's New Day Drop-in to ensure onsite duties are completed during hours of operation. The CES will be responsible for assisting in the daily functioning of the Drop-in Center, coordinating access to resources for all women entering the center, as well as provide ongoing crisis intervention and leadership during the hours of operation. The CES will also participate in street outreach efforts. This is a grant funded position.

Description of Position: The role of the Community Engagement Specialist will be to coordinate services and access to resources for all drop-in center participants. The CES is responsible for all daily operations of the drop-in center, including ensuring that services provided are culturally sensitive and trauma-informed. The CES will conduct initial screening and intake of newly identified victims of human trafficking and provide information and referral services to those entering the drop-in center. The CES will also conduct street outreach to individuals experiencing street-based prostitution and trafficking.

Qualifications

Requirements

  • Certified Peer Specialist or Certified Recovery Specialist certification preferred.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED
  • Must possess two years of relevant work experience
  • Experience with trauma informed care preferably a working knowledge of Sanctuary Model for Trauma informed services.
  • Must understand the issue of Domestic and Foreign Human Trafficking and prostitution.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel from site to site as may be needed in the performance of duties. 
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
  • This position is contingent on grant funding.
