Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist supports physicians during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures. This role is responsible for preparing procedure rooms, assisting during invasive cardiac and vascular procedures, monitoring patient conditions, and providing both routine and emergency care. The position also contributes to quality initiatives, equipment maintenance, and staff training in a fast-paced cardiovascular environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral vascular procedures
Support procedures including catheterizations, arteriograms, pacemaker implants, ICDs, EP studies, RF and cryo ablations
Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and sterile fields
Perform pre- and post-procedure patient care and monitoring
Monitor ECG, hemodynamics, pressures, temperatures, and impedances during procedures
Operate RF/Cryo ablation systems and 3D mapping technology
Manage and maintain procedural images, documentation, and reports
Collect registry and quality data and assist with audits
Maintain inventory, ensure proper stocking, and monitor equipment expiration
Perform routine calibration and maintenance of complex cath lab equipment
Provide emergency care including CPR and defibrillation when required
Transport patients to and from procedural areas
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits, and department committees
Assist with training and orientation of new staff and students
Deliver excellent patient-centered customer service
Required
QualificationsEducation & Experience
Associate’s degree in a related field OR
Completion of a U.S. military training program with equivalent experience OR
Minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular lab experience
Certifications & Licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS) – within 30 days of hire
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – within 30 days of hire
One of the following required:
ARRT-R (Radiography) with MRT (Texas)
RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist)
RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist)
CEPS (Certified EP Specialist)
CCDS (Certified Cardiac Device Specialist)
Additional Requirements
Availability for on-call coverage per department policy
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and invasive techniques
Ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular instrumentation
