Job description

As a Manager of Software Engineering (Full Stack, React) at JPMorganChase within Consumer and Community Banking Digital Technology, you will lead a team building and evolving customer-facing web experiences and the supporting APIs that power critical digital journeys. You will combine hands-on technical leadership with people leadership to raise engineering quality, delivery predictability, and operational resilience.
Job responsibilities
  • Lead and coach a full-stack engineering team delivering React-based web experiences and supporting APIs, setting clear technical direction and strong engineering standards
  • Drive front-end architecture and implementation quality for modern single-page applications, including accessibility, performance, and secure-by-design patterns
  • Partner with product, design, and partner engineering teams to shape solution scope, milestones, and delivery plans that maximize customer and business outcomes
  • Establish and enforce modern testing and quality practices across the stack, including unit, integration, and end-to-end automation and release readiness
  • Oversee API and service design to enable scalable front-end experiences, including consistency, observability, resiliency, and clear interface contracts
  • Improve reliability and developer productivity by reducing recurring issues, modernizing delivery pipelines, and strengthening operational hygiene and on-call readiness
  • Leads team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering practices and SDLC/TLM automation to improve delivery speed, quality, and operational outcomes, while setting expectations for human validation, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and consistent use of reusable patterns across teams
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation and support capacity unlock initiatives

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience. In addition, demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience
  • Demonstrated experience leading full-stack delivery with strong depth in front-end engineering (React and TypeScript), including component design, state management, routing, and performance optimization
  • Hands-on experience building and operating web APIs (for example Java and Spring), including secure design, versioning strategies, and reliability considerations in distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of web application security and secure coding practices (for example cross-site scripting, cross-site request forgery, session management, content security policy) and dependency and vulnerability management
  • Proven ability to set and sustain engineering excellence through code review, test strategy, and continuous integration and continuous delivery practices (including feature flags and rollback strategies)
  • Hands-on experience building, deploying, and operating applications on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including identity and access management, networking fundamentals, logging/monitoring, and infrastructure-as-code practices
  • Experience leading responsible adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools across engineering teams, including defining ways of working (review/validation expectations), measuring outcomes, and ensuring secure handling of data
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, resiliency/security implications, and governance expectations; ability to coach engineers on compliant and effective usage

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience designing and scaling reusable front-end platforms, design systems, or shared component libraries across multiple teams
  • Experience with AWS-native architectures for web applications (for example content delivery, API routing, container or serverless deployment patterns)
  • Experience with GraphQL and modern build and packaging tooling ecosystems
  • Experience driving modernization efforts such as large-scale refactoring, testing uplift, or migration to newer front-end patterns and frameworks
  • Experience working in highly regulated environments with strong engineering controls, auditability, and reliability expectations
