Contract Overview
Avosys is supporting the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) by providing specialized web development services for the Human Performance Wing Support System (HPWS). HPWS is a mission-critical enterprise application that supports occupational and environmental health operations for the 711th Human Performance Wing and serves Air Force personnel and other U.S. Government agencies worldwide.
We are seeking two full-time Web Developers responsible for enhancing, maintaining, and sustaining HPWS modules while ensuring compliance with Department of Defense cybersecurity, accessibility, and information assurance requirements.
Position Summary
The Web Developers will design, develop, test, document, and deploy enhancements to HPWS using Adobe ColdFusion, Oracle databases, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery. Responsibilities include software development throughout the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), database design, technical documentation, testing, code reviews, stakeholder collaboration, and ongoing application support.
You will work closely with USAFSAM leadership, the HPWS Program Office, and government stakeholders to deliver secure, high-quality software solutions that support operational readiness and mission success.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following education and experience combinations:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems with at least four (4) years of Adobe ColdFusion and Oracle development experience; or
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline with six (6) years of applicable web development experience; or
  • Postsecondary education with eight (8) years of applicable web development experience.
  • Candidates must also possess:
  • Experience developing web applications using Adobe ColdFusion
  • Experience with Oracle SQL and PL/SQL
  • Experience designing and maintaining relational databases
  • Strong SQL query development skills
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery
  • Experience with AJAX transactions
  • Knowledge of the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with D3.js data visualization library
  • Experience supporting Department of Defense or Federal Government applications
  • Knowledge of Section 508/WCAG accessibility standards
  • Experience working within secure government environments

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain HPWS web applications.
  • Develop software using Adobe ColdFusion, Oracle PL/SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery.
  • Create and maintain relational database objects including tables, views, procedures, triggers, functions, and sequences.
  • Gather technical requirements and translate business needs into software solutions.
  • Produce technical documentation including requirements, design documents, test plans, deployment plans, and training materials.
  • Perform software testing, troubleshooting, debugging, and code reviews.
  • Support Section 508 accessibility compliance and secure coding standards.
  • Participate in Agile project meetings and provide weekly project status updates.
  • Develop user training materials and conduct training sessions as required.
  • Implement solutions that comply with Department of Defense cybersecurity, RMF, HIPAA, and operational security requirements.
  • Collaborate effectively with government stakeholders and fellow development team members.

Work Location
Primary duty location:
  • This is a full-time telework position utilizing Government Furnished Equipment. Employees must maintain reliable internet service to access government systems via VPN and be available during core business hours (9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. EST) for meetings and collaboration through Microsoft Teams and Outlook.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to Government systems
  • Must comply with all DoD, HIPAA, RMF, cybersecurity, OPSEC, and Privacy Act requirements

Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Tier 1 (SF-85) Background Investigation prior to onboarding.
  • Must be eligible to access Department of Defense networks, systems, and facilities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Employment eligibility verification is required.
  • Must be willing to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) and maintain confidentiality of government information.
  • Must successfully complete all required government and company training, including Information Assurance (IA), Operational Security (OPSEC), HIPAA, Privacy Act, Records Management, and cybersecurity awareness training.
  • Must comply with all applicable Department of Defense, Air Force, and company policies and procedures.
  • Must maintain reliable high-speed internet service to support secure VPN connectivity while teleworking.
  • Must be available during core business hours (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. EST) and attend scheduled meetings via Microsoft Teams.
  • Must utilize Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for all contract work. Use of personal computers or printers for government information is prohibited.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to collaborate effectively with government personnel and project stakeholders.
  • Must be capable of managing multiple priorities, meeting project deadlines, and working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must maintain professionalism, integrity, and a customer-focused approach while supporting the mission of the U.S. Air Force.
  • Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining all required qualifications, background investigation eligibility, and compliance with contract requirements throughout the period of performance.
