Job description

Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is a non-profit corporation that provides culturally sensitive health care to the American Indian population. OKCIC services include not only basic medical care but also dental, optometry, behavioral health, fitness, nutrition, and other family programs.

Our mission is to provide excellent healthcare to American Indians. We do this by putting people first, providing quality services, and maintaining our Integrity and Professionalism.

We are looking to add compassionate team players to our growing team as we continue to work toward our goal of becoming the national model for American Indian Health Care.

The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic (OKCIC) is implementing Epic, and we're seeking an experienced Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology Application Analyst to help design, configure, and optimize the technology supporting our pathology and laboratory services.

In this role, you'll partner with pathologists, histotechnologists, laboratory professionals, providers, and technical teams to build workflows that improve specimen tracking, pathology documentation, case management, result reporting, and regulatory compliance. Your work will directly support accurate diagnoses and high-quality patient care.

If you're passionate about healthcare technology, pathology operations, and solving complex workflow challenges, we'd love to hear from you.

Applicants claiming Indian Preference must complete the full application and must provide documentation verifying eligibility (such as a tribal enrollment card or Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB)).

Requirements:

  • Build and maintain anatomic pathology workflows, including case login, specimen grossing documentation, and synoptic templates
  • Configure pathology slide tracking, tissue block labeling protocols, and automated case assignment worklists
  • Design and test clinical documentation interfaces tailored to pathologists, cytotechnologists, and histotechnologists
  • Align charge capture rules with pathology procedural documentation to ensure accurate data transfer to the revenue cycle
  • Participate in integrated testing plans to validate laboratory results delivery and formatting within the electronic medical record

The Oklahoma City Indian Clinic is a nonprofit organization, not a federal employer. Indian preference hiring laws apply. The Clinic is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) employer. The Clinic adheres to all applicable laws prohibiting discrimination in employment, including protections based on race, color, sex, national origin, age, disability, religion, veteran status, and other characteristics as required by federal, state, or local law.

  • Must align with OKCIC vision, mission, and core values
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Histotechnology, Histology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Health Informatics, Healthcare Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related clinical or technical field required. An equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience may be substituted, with one (1) year of additional relevant experience accepted in lieu of each year of required education.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience supporting healthcare information technology, laboratory information systems (LIS), pathology information systems, electronic health records (EHR), or enterprise healthcare applications required.
  • Candidates must successfully pass the Epic Sphinx Assessment as part of the interview and selection process to be eligible for employment in this position.
  • Experience configuring, implementing, testing, supporting, or optimizing Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology or other anatomic pathology information systems strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting anatomic pathology workflows, specimen accessioning, gross examination, histology, cytology, specimen tracking, pathology reporting, synoptic reporting, laboratory charge capture, or pathology workflow optimization preferred.
  • Working knowledge of anatomic pathology operations, histology workflows, pathology documentation standards, laboratory regulations and accreditation requirements (CLIA, CAP), specimen lifecycle management, and healthcare technology best practices preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze clinical and operational workflows, translate business requirements into technical solutions, troubleshoot application and interface issues, and optimize system performance.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with pathologists, histotechnologists, laboratory personnel, providers, operational leaders, and technical stakeholders.
  • Epic certification, accreditation, or proficiency in Beaker Anatomic Pathology or assigned application(s) preferred.
  • Certification may be required based on the assigned application or role responsibilities.
  • Current certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or other applicable histology or laboratory credentials may be preferred for certain analyst assignments based on application responsibilities.
