JOB DESCRIPTION INFORMATION 

Position Title: Food Safety/Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager

Position Type: Fulltime

FLSA Status: Salaried

Department: Quality Assurance

Location: Columbia, MO

Years of Experience: 5 years in USDA Facility & 3 years supervisor experience. 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of this position is to maintain product integrity and food safety within the plant.  The FSQA manager will enforce HACCP, implement all government directives, regulations and policies throughout the processing facility.  They will oversee all production of all consumers ready meat products and ensure product, including packaging, meet customer specifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assistant to and direct backup for Technical Services Manager and/or Director

Directly supervises FSQA Supervisors, QA technicians and the Food Safety Specialist; coordinate their activities with assistance from Technical Services Manager and Production Leadership

Assist and helps the food safety specialist with all SQF programs and audits (government and/or 3rd parties)

Assist with the resolution of customer complaints and trending complaint activities.

Maintain HACCP program and all records associated with it, including the monitoring of the CCPs.

Ensures all records and proper documents for SQF, HACCP and all pre-requisite programs are properly organized and maintained.

Collaborates with Lab Manager on scheduled testing

Collaborates with the Sanitation team on MSS activities, ensures all pre-operational activities are complete, and the facility is ready for production

Assists & provides training for pre-operational inspection of equipment and for operational inspections of the facility

Collaborates with the Maintenance & Operations leaders on preventive maintenance activities and the deep cleaning of equipment

Coordinates with the Technical Projects Manager on labeling and nutritional content of product

Interacts with USDA on any NRs and any other concerns of the inspectors.

Responsible for Internal pest control program supplementing the outside pest control program; verifies procedures for effectiveness

Supports and participates with internal audits (GMP, glass and brittle plastic) and coordinates activities resulting from deficiencies found.

Ensures calibrations of all equipment is being maintained as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience

SQF certified

HACCP certified

Must have ability to mentor and train individuals

Must be able to read and comprehend regulations, correspondence, instructions, rules and regulations as well as fill out forms and write reports

Raw and ready to eat production environment experience mandatory 

Experience in leading groups of QA employees, including setting team and individual objectives, managing individual and team performance and building a team approach to problem solving

Strong proficiency with personal computer software with knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and multiple applications required.

Detail oriented and strong analytical skills

Highly organized
