Job Summary
The Office of Human Resources is seeking a professional, dependable, and customer-service-oriented Federal Work-Study (FWS) student to serve as a Front Desk Assistant. The student will be the first point of contact for visitors to the Office of Human Resources and will provide courteous, professional assistance to students, employees, and campus visitors.
Responsibilities
  • Greet and welcome all visitors to the Office of Human Resources in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Provide excellent customer service and assist students, employees, and visitors with general questions and directions.
  • Receive and assist with the submission of Form I-9 employment eligibility documentation in accordance with established Human Resources procedures.
  • Assist with student employment processes and provide general support to students seeking employment information.
  • Maintain a professional, organized, and welcoming front desk and reception area.
  • Assist OHR staff with administrative tasks and special projects as needed.
  • Assist with and/or participate in Student Employment outreach activities and events.
  • Follow all applicable office procedures and maintain appropriate confidentiality when handling Human Resources information and documents.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be a current University of West Georgia student enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours and maintaining at least a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average.
  • Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact courteously and professionally with students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements/ Working Conditions
  • This position is primarily based in the Office of Human Resources and involves regular interaction with students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
  • The student may also be asked to assist with Human Resources events, activities, and outreach programs held throughout campus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous customer service, reception, administrative, or office experience.
  • Familiarity with the campus and student services.
  • Experience working in a professional office environment.
