The anticipated salary range for this role is between $148,054.00ย and $175,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Objectives
  • Lead the execution of project finance and structured finance transactions across North America under the guidance of the Group Head and other senior team members.
  • Collaborate with product groups to maximize returns through cross-selling initiatives.
  • Present transactions internally and spearhead the preparation of credit applications for new deals, managing the approval process in coordination with the Credit Department and back office.
  • Conduct due diligence, negotiate transaction documentation, and oversee all related execution activities.
  • Monitor and manage existing transactions and client relationships, including reviewing and processing waivers, amendments, internal reporting requirements, and special credit matters.
  • Partner with other departments covering overlapping clients to identify new business opportunities and strengthen market positioning.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable regulatory requirements as well as internal compliance policies and procedures and proactively escalate operational risk events when necessary.
  • Represent the bank at client meetings, industry conferences, and other events to stay informed of market trends and expand client networks. Drive marketing and origination efforts by developing pitch books and marketing materials, meeting with clients, and delivering research and analytics to support new business initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field plus 3 years of experience in finance industry.
  • Experience must include the following:ย financial modeling; conducting due diligence; negotiating term sheets and financing documentation; identifying and mitigating credit and other transaction risks; and performing other structured finance-related activities; analyzing and negotiating documentation for financing transactions and investments.
  • The required skills do not need to be maintained over the full term of required experience.ย
