Are you a bilingual communication bridge-builder who believes every family deserves a voice in their child's education?

We are seeking a professional, empathetic, and highly skilled Remote Spanish Interpreter to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will facilitate clear, accurate communication between school staff and students' families.

Because this role is 100% remote with variable hours, it offers incredible flexibility. It is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income while making a tangible, positive impact on educational equity.

Key Responsibilities

As an educational interpreter, you will be the voice of connection. Your primary duties will include:

  • Remote Interpretation: Provide high-quality consecutive (and occasionally simultaneous) interpretation for various check-ins with families.
  • Make Independent Calls: Acquire information in response to pre-written questions.
  • Maintain Strict Confidentiality:
  • Cultural Mediation: Serve as a cultural bridge, ensuring that nuances and context are accurately conveyed without altering the meaning of the original message.
  • Professional Conduct: Remain impartial, objective, and professional at all times, regardless of the nature of the meeting.

Qualifications & Requirements

To excel in this role, you must bring both linguistic expertise and technical reliability to your home office.

  • Linguistic Excellence: Native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish, with a deep understanding of cultural nuances in various Spanish-speaking communities. Professional-grade written Spanish and English.
  • Educational Terminology: Prior experience with or a strong understanding of educational jargon, special education terms, and school policies is highly preferred but not required.
  • Technology Setup:
    • A quiet, private, distraction-free workspace.
    • A reliable, high-speed internet connection (hardwired preferred).
    • A computer with a high-definition webcam and a professional USB headset with a noise-canceling microphone.
    • Proficiency with video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet).
  • Experience & Certifications:
    • Minimum of 12 years of professional interpreting experience (educational or community interpreting preferred).
    • Certification from a recognized interpreting body (e.g., ATA, court certification, or community interpreting credentials) is a significant plus.
