Job description

ROLE 

WHC LLC (A Surerus Murphy Company) (WHC), is seeking to recruit a Field Procurement Specialist to join our Power team. 

The Field Procurement Specialist position is a key role within the WHC organization to ensure projects have the appropriate materials and supplies needed so that WHC can deliver projects to the highest standards. The Field Procurement Specialist has an overall responsibility for all aspects of the field procurement process. This includes managing the field requisition process, managing supplier relationships, issuing RFP’s, managing the bidding and evaluation process and awarding field purchase orders for a single project or multiple projects. The Field Procurement Specialist will work directly under the Power Field Procurement Manager and in conjunction with the project site manager and project manager. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and other team members to understand field procurement requirements and timelines. 

  • Receive and manage field requisitions, source qualified suppliers, leads and manage the RFP process through the preparation of comparing quotes, collaboration with internal teams regarding, budget, and technical evaluations, including making recommendations for award and presenting to project teams.  

  • Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations, including pricing, availability, lead times, freight, and delivery requirements. Negotiate routine commercial items as appropriate and identify opportunities to achieve competitive pricing and favorable delivery schedules. 

  • Implement and maintain procurement procedures on the corporate ERP system. 

  • Coordinates, and leads the negotiation and award process. Strong attention to detail required, with the ability to create purchase orders, and revisions with appropriate back up documents. 

  • Issue and expedite purchase orders as required for materials, consumables, supplies, small tools and site services. Contract administration such as creating and issuing contract change orders.  

  • Expedite orders as required. Including tasks such as; confirming delivery dates, confirmation from the site materials team material has arrived on site, obtaining documentation from suppliers. Manage and resolve any defects or delivery issues with suppliers and negotiate effective remediation plans to maintain project timelines and quality standards.  

  • Communication with internal project teams and external stakeholders on procurement status for assigned projects.  

  • Maintain supplier relationships, stay up to date with any industry advancements and new product offerings.  

  • Performs other duties as assigned, including supporting the Field Procurement Manager on other initiatives as assigned.  

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company. 
 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Business, Legal, Technical / Engineering, Construction or related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED Required.  

Experience 

  • Minimum 1-2 years Proven experience in procurement of site materials or supply chain within the construction industry.  

  • Experience managing site related procurement activities on a large-scale construction project is highly preferred.   

  • Experience in procurement on Solar/Renewables EPC projects preferred.  

Skills and Knowledge 

  • Ability to multitask across different projects and proposals. 

  • Attention to detail 

  • Working knowledge of purchase orders, commercial terms and conditions, and ability to identify and escalate issues when necessary 

  • Experience editing contract documents and ability to resolve basic commercial terms and conditions 

  • Willing to learn technical aspects of solar facilities, substation, and battery storage equipment.  

  • Ability to adapt and work on varying assignments, working independently or as part of a team. 

  • Advanced proficiency in using Microsoft Office products, particularly Word, Excel and Teams. 
     

WORKING CONDITIONS 

This position is based in our Woodlands, TX or Overland Park, KS office or site based on project location. Some travel may be required to project sites, home office, or other events.  

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS 

The Field Procurement Specialist reports to the Power Field Procurement Manager.
