Job description

About the Role:
French Maternal School Inc. is looking for a passionate and nurturing Assistant Teacher and Aftercare Coordinator to join our 26-27 team! This is a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young learners in a unique, language-rich educational environment. Responsibilities:
  • Assist lead teachers in delivering engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons and activities for early childhood students
  • Supervise, organize, and coordinate daily aftercare program operations for enrolled students
  • Foster a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom and aftercare environment
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and aftercare updates
  • Plan and facilitate age-appropriate enrichment activities during aftercare hours
  • Monitor student behavior and implement positive guidance strategies
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and ensure child safety protocols are followed
Requirements:
  • Experience working with early childhood or school-age children in a classroom or childcare setting
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills for coordinating aftercare programming
  • Warm, patient, and nurturing demeanor with a genuine passion for child development
  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • French language proficiency is mandatory  given the school's bilingual environment
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • High school diploma required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, CDA or Associate in any field
Pay: range $22.00 to $25 per hour + $30 for all aftercare hours
