Job description

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Staff Engineer for our Highway/Traffic Department in Wall, NJ.


Responsibilities


  • Assist with the design and preparation of roadway and traffic engineering plans, including alignments, profiles, signage, striping, and maintenance of traffic plans
  • Support traffic engineering studies such as traffic impact studies, signal warrant analyses, and capacity analysis
  • Perform data collection and analysis, including traffic counts and field observations
  • Prepare technical reports, calculations, and supporting documentation
  • Utilize design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, and/or HCS
  • Coordinate with internal team members across multiple disciplines
  • Attend project meetings and assist with client coordination as needed
  • Support construction phase services, including shop drawing review and field inspections

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited university
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience (internship experience preferred)
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within one year
  • Basic knowledge of roadway and/or traffic engineering principles
  • Familiarity with NJDOT, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards is a plus
  • Experience with design and analysis software (AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, Synchro, HCS, etc.) preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $77,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
