POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the pricing department and maintain efficiencies, productivity, job accuracy, and protect company profit margins. Ensure division complies with Federal Regulations, as laws of foreign countries to achieve the compliant process of a rate proposal and/or contracts. Analyze rates and/or contracts in accordance with the market value in order to offer our customers through rate proposal the most competitive quote that will secure cargo and provide a margin of benefit to the company. Work and communicate with other members of the company to create an effective team and represent the company's interest in any function. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. GEOGRAPHIC REGION:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
  • Four (4) years of experience in pricing within the NVOCC transportation and/or freight forwarding industry.
  • Three (3) years of experience managing staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish (read and write) in a business environment at an advanced level.
  • Advanced Computer Skills in programs such as MS Word, Excel & Outlook.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Must be able to prioritize and be detail oriented. Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Effective analytical and negotiating skills relevant to rate proposal.
  • Ability to assess market conditions and produce competitive rates.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of reports.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment within established systems and procedures.
  • Ability to think logically and follow procedures and instructions. Strong decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, agents, and fellow employees.
  • Strong analytical and reasoning abilities in order to examine, analyze and interpret market trends, competitor's rates and other reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary
  • Document and execute standard operating procedures and service parameters for pricing.
  • Manage the pricing team to ensure effective execution of Seaboard Solutions services and SOP parameters.
  • Train the team to meet company's services and regulatory compliance objectives.
  • Maintain training materials and training records to support divisional training.
  • Execute weekly or biweekly team meetings and circulate and record meeting minutes, assigned tasks and deadlines. Manage deadlines and task completion.
  • Define and manage process enhancement projects and execute in a collaborative manner with team members to create a goal oriented enviroment and engage team with common division goals.
  • Maintain a continuous and results driven staff development programs.
  • Continuously review, modify, and enhance processes and procedures to maintain optimal service standards, team efficiency, and productivity levels.
  • Responsible for writing and maintaining division and account standard operating procedures.
  • Work with carriers to negotiate and develop strong partnerships to contribute to our contracts.
  • Maintain a pulse of the market rates structures by service lane and competitors.
  • Prepare customer advisories in compliance with the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) regulations.
  • Negotiate rates with Inland Carriers and manage inland vendors.
  • Work with Co-loaders to secure competitive Co-load rates.
  • Prepare and maintain NSA, NRA, MSA, and Service Agreements,
  • Drafts service proposals for customers or internal Sales team based on customer shipping requirements.
  • Exercises knowledge of company's services and aspects of department.
  • Quotes for various types of rates (port-to-port, intermodal, over the road, railroad, transshipment, Customs Brokerage, Forwarding & Warehousing) and effectively work with Transportation & Logistics Division in developing rates as per customer's needs.
  • Runs and analyzes market analysis report.
  • Keeps abreast of all FMC guidelines, tariff changes, including any new regulations and changes in rate applicability.
  • Ensure department system is updated with the research results.
  • Prepare bids for specific customers in order to secure cargo.
  • Responsible for heavy contract rate negotiations.

Secondary
  • Provides support to Sales, Pricing Team, and Operation team members in the interpretations of the tariff rules and/or rates.
  • Profiles and identifies accounts in order to ensure the most profitable rate for each shipment/customer is provided.
  • Keep abreast of rule changes or related issues as they pertain to areas of responsibility (countries/services in charge of).
  • Perform other related duties as they arise.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:
Receives direct supervision from the Director of International Logistics. Exercises supervision over employees in the Pricing Department and may require assistance of administrative department personnel.

  • Indoors office. Exposed to controlled temperature and office environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually busy (many phones in open cubicles).
