Allied Global Marketing

Remote

Contractor

This job post has expired today. Applications are no longer accepted.

Job description

In business for over 30 years, Allied has built upon its roots in film advertising and publicity to become a global leader in entertainment, culture, and lifestyle marketing. Allied's award-winning team of specialists, over 400 strong across 23 global offices, create campaigns that drive conversion for some of the world's biggest brands in film, TV, sports, gaming, live entertainment, cultural institutions, hospitality, and consumer brands. Our teams provide best-in-class marketing solutions across a range of services including integrated paid, owned, and earned media, creative solutions, and strategic consulting.
Engagement Type: Independent contractor, as-needed
Location: Remote
Anticipated Volume: Approximately 0-5 hours per month initially, with the potential for additional project work
Typical Timing: Assignments, when they arise, will generally fall between noon and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time.
About the Opportunity
Allied Global Marketing is seeking an experienced freelance web developer to take on occasional website updates, technical issues, and troubleshooting requests for a portfolio of small client and agency websites.
The volume of work is expected to be limited and sporadic, so this opportunity is best suited to an independent developer with an existing freelance practice who has capacity to take on additional client work.
This is not a fixed-shift or full-time position. Work will be assigned on an as-needed basis, and the contractor will invoice Allied for completed work.
Responsibilities
The contractor may be asked to:
  • Troubleshoot website errors, outages and unexpected display issues
  • Diagnose and resolve urgent website problems
  • Complete client-requested content and CMS updates
  • Update pages, images, links, forms and other website content
  • Support websites built in WordPress, Grav CMS and similar content management systems
  • Make updates using HTML, CSS and, when necessary, PHP
  • Deploy website files or updates to a hosting environment
  • Restore or revert a website to an earlier working version when appropriate
  • Work with Git or another version-control system to review website history and changes
  • Coordinate with Allied as needed when an issue requires additional context
  • Document completed work, decisions and any recommended follow-up
  • Escalate issues that cannot be safely resolved within the agreed scope or timeframe

From time to time, there may also be opportunities to support small website enhancements, migrations, hosting updates or other development projects.
Required Experience
  • Professional experience supporting and troubleshooting live websites
  • Strong working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Experience working with WordPress
  • Familiarity with website hosting, domains, redirects and file deployment
  • Experience using Git or another version-control platform
  • Ability to diagnose unfamiliar website issues efficiently
  • Ability to communicate clearly about the nature of an issue, the proposed solution and the expected completion time
  • Ability to work independently using your own equipment and software
  • Reliable internet access

Preferred Experience
  • Experience with Grav CMS
  • Working knowledge of PHP
  • Experience with FTP or SFTP
  • Experience supporting websites built by other developers
  • Experience restoring previous versions of websites or rolling back problematic updates
  • Experience working with creative, marketing or digital agencies
  • Experience supporting multiple small websites across different platforms

Typical Assignment Hours and Applicant Information
Assignments, when they arise, will generally fall between noon and 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Requests are expected to be sporadic, so applicants are not required to be continuously available throughout that window.
To help us understand fit, applicants should be prepared to describe:
  • Their typical availability during that time period
  • How quickly they can usually acknowledge a new request
  • How quickly they can typically begin work after accepting an assignment
  • Any days or periods when they are regularly unavailable

Among applicants, we're likely to prioritize those who can generally acknowledge urgent requests within approximately one hour and provide either an initial assessment or realistic completion timeline.
Engagement Details
  • This is an independent contractor opportunity, engaged on a project-by-project basis
  • There is no guaranteed minimum number of hours
  • The contractor determines where, when and how the work is performed, subject to the deliverables and deadlines agreed for each assignment
  • The contractor will use their own equipment
  • Completed work will be invoiced to Allied at the end of each month
  • Based on an agreed hourly rate
  • Allied may establish separate estimates or scopes for larger development assignments

To Apply
Please provide:
  • A brief overview of your freelance web development experience and current client base
  • Your current location and time zone
  • Your typical availability for new assignments between noon and 8:00 p.m. Pacific
  • Your usual acknowledgement and turnaround time for urgent website requests
  • Your hourly rate structure and any minimum billing requirements
  • Your experience with WordPress, Grav CMS, HTML, CSS, PHP and Git
  • Two or three examples of websites you have supported or maintained
  • A brief example of a website issue you diagnosed and resolved
