Job description

We're looking for an Associate Director of Performance Creative to lead the performance creative strategy, development, and optimization of performance marketing across Bumble's growth channels.

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of creative, performance marketing, and consumer insight. You'll partner closely with Growth Marketing to develop creative that drives user acquisition, engagement, and retention while continually testing, learning, and improving performance.

This role requires someone who is equally comfortable developing creative strategy, rolling up their sleeves to create and iterate assets, and partnering with agencies and contractors to scale creative output.

What You'll Own

Performance Creative Strategy

  • Lead the development of the creative strategy across performance marketing channels, including Meta, YouTube, Google, App Store Optimization (ASO), CRM/Lifecycle, and emerging platforms.

  • Define the translation of audience insights, testing results, and consumer behavior into messaging frameworks and creative concepts that improve acquisition and engagement.

  • Own trade off decisions between short-term performance optimization with long-term brand consistency.

Creative Development & Optimization

  • Lead the development of performance marketing creative across video, static, motion, landing pages, messaging, and other growth assets.

  • Build and continuously evolve a robust creative testing roadmap, identifying new hypotheses, audiences, messages, and formats to improve performance.

  • Partner closely with Performance Marketing to analyze results, identify insights, and rapidly iterate creative based on learnings.

  • Champion a test-and-learn culture where experimentation, speed, and continuous optimization are core to how the team operates.

Creative Execution

  • Be hands-on in the creative process-from concepting and messaging through creative reviews and occasional asset development.

  • Manage agency and freelance budgets/contracts and hold final approval on external creative partnerships

  • Define the creative quality and speed standards used across the performance marketing function

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with Growth Marketing, Brand, Product Marketing, Lifecycle Marketing, Analytics, and Product teams to align creative strategy with business priorities.

  • Serve as the org's recognized expert on performance creative strategy, setting the frameworks other teams adopt for messaging and creative direction

  • Help shape creative systems, workflows, and processes that increase creative velocity and operational efficiency.

What You Bring
  • 6+ years of experience in performance creative, growth marketing, creative strategy, or integrated creative leadership within consumer technology, mobile apps, ecommerce, or high-growth brands.

  • Proven experience developing performance marketing creative that drives measurable business results.

  • Deep understanding of Meta, YouTube, Google, CRM/Lifecycle marketing, and App Store Optimization creative best practices.

  • Strong experience building creative testing frameworks and using data to inform creative decisions.

  • Excellent creative judgment across copy, messaging, design, video, and content.

  • Ability to move seamlessly between strategy and execution in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills.

  • Experience managing agencies, freelancers, or external creative partners.

  • Mentor creative team members on creative best practices, raising the skill level of the broader team

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by:

  • Improved creative performance across acquisition and engagement channels.

  • Increased creative testing velocity and quality of insights generated.

  • Strong partnership with the Performance Marketing team.

  • Development of scalable creative systems and workflows.

  • Delivery of high-quality creative that drives measurable business growth while strengthening the Bumble brand.

Leadership Expectations
  • Lead with curiosity, creativity, and a customer-first mindset.

  • Be both a strategist and a maker-comfortable developing creative direction while also contributing directly to the work.

  • Foster a culture of experimentation, rapid learning, and continuous improvement.

  • Build trusted partnerships across Marketing, Product, and Analytics.

  • Inspire exceptional creative work through collaboration, high standards, and thoughtful leadership.
