Job description

Head Of Marketing

Snout is one of the fastest growing wellness plan providers in the veterinary space, trusted by clinics across the US. We're a small but mighty startup team of <50 employees. We're searching for a data-driven and creative Head of Marketing to work closely with our CEO to build our marketing function from the ground up. This role is very multifaceted - you will lead the charge and define our veterinary facing brand, work with our hundreds of veterinary partners to market to millions of pet parents on a monthly basis, and drive the strategy behind consumer branding as well. This role is remote US based, with a strong preference for candidates in the New York City area.

Snout is a B2B2C company and our plans are sold exclusively through our veterinary partners. We're looking to hire someone who is a strategic "doer." You will be in charge of both marketing to veterinarians and helping them market to their clients. The latter will be the first area of focus. The marketing team will work with our veterinary partners and their account managers to build and test campaigns, from emails to swag bags, it's all fair game. We have millions of pet parents in our database and our vet partners are hungry for support. Once we find working paths, you'll work with our product team to scale it out to all of our partners. This role combines problem solving, creativity and experimentation with data-driven decision making. You'll work with our engineering team to refine millions of records for your needs and insights. From there, you'll build outward: developing Snout's voice, visual identity, and go-to-market playbook. In this role, you'll have freedom to play and test all your ideas. There is no shortage of experiments to run. When they don't, you'll learn fast and move on. We promise you won't be bored! If you're scrappy Founding Marketer archetype, data-driven, and energized by the chance to build a brand that truly makes a difference, this is the role for you! Snout is committed to building a diverse and inclusive team. We know that great candidates may not check every box and that's okay. If you're excited about this role and our mission, we encourage you to apply if you meet at least 75% of qualifications including the first bullet. If you need any accommodations during the application or interview process, please let us know we're happy to support you.

What You'll Do
  • Create a strong and recognizable Snout brand narrative
  • Design and run multi-channel acquisition campaigns (email, SEO, SEM, content, social) while creating compelling content that highlights our value
  • Partner closely with our veterinary partners and account managers to refine ads, copy, messaging, and positioning based on performance and customer feedback
  • Own marketing operations and budget: build and maintain the tech stack, set up attribution models, and create dashboards to track key metrics
  • Drive growth experimentation by testing new channels, analyzing results, and scaling what works
  • Build, coach and manage a team that successfully hits OKR goals
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of marketing experience, ideally as an early marketing hire (Founding Marketer) at a tech startup or incubator, and product or content marketing focus
  • Comfort in analytics: using spreadsheets, analytics, sales, CRM and automation tools to test, measure, and scale what works
  • A strong communicator and storyteller
  • Prior hands-on experience with and a deep understanding of email (Mailchimp, etc.), digital campaigns (SEO, SEM), content, and partnerships to build brand visibility across many channels
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving environments where creativity meets data
  • Track record of driving growth effectively and efficiently with scrappy, innovative marketing strategies in budget
  • Problem-solver who leans on first principles to tackle challenges and organizer who takes ownership to lead projects end-to-end
  • Open to occasional travel as needed
What Will Make You Stand Out
  • Experience building, managing and developing high performing teams
  • Experience managing contractors or freelancers to execute marketing plans
  • Experience leading product marketing and GTM efforts, from defining positioning and messaging to launching new products and driving adoption alongside our executive team
Why You Should Join Snout
  • Fast growing, venture capital backed technology company focused on improving access to veterinary care
  • Ability to have a meaningful impact from Day 1, where your voice and opinion matters
  • Unlimited potential to grow in your career, learn and expand your skillsets
  • Collaborative, flexible, and friendly culture
Why This Role Might Not Be A Fit For You
  • You don't have experience at a seed, Series A/B/C startup
  • You are used to having a team run things for you and don't want to be hands-on
  • You aren't confident performing data analysis using spreadsheets
  • You don't have a track record of managing a marketing budget effectively and efficiently
  • You aren't a pet or animal lover
  • You don't live close to an airport and have travel flexibility
Compensation
  • $150 000 - $250 000 base salary
  • Equity
Benefits
  • Day 1 medical/dental/vision benefits
  • Flexible time off + 11 Snout calendar holidays
  • Paid parental leave
