Job description

MLB Network seeks a Freelance Traffic Coordinator to work closely with the Sales, Production, Programming, and Master Control departments to help ensure programs and live events run according to schedule and troubleshoot any inventory changes requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule commercial units on broadcast logs across all networks in accordance with established traffic guidelines and procedures.
  • Responsible for logging assigned commercial materials upon receipt from advertising agencies.
  • Effectively utilize the Broadway system to achieve required results.
  • Work closely with the Programming and Sales departments to ensure that commercials are scheduled correctly and inventory is up to date.
  • Interact effectively and timely with Master Control to execute last minute commercial changes and troubleshoot miscellaneous traffic-related issues.
  • Responsible for posting "final" logs to master control across all networks.
  • Maintain well-organized information about on-air advertisers to avoid billing discrepancies.
  • Provide Master Control with "swap" lists, dub lists, and standby programming and inventory as needed for all networks.
  • Other such duties as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A minimum of 1-year related Traffic experience is preferred.
  • Experience in the television, advertising, sales or production industry is preferred.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively utilize the Broadway system.
  • Must have a high capacity for detail; a strong ability to follow processes consistently.
  • Demonstrate the tact, diplomacy, decisiveness, and superior people skills required in the pressurized environment of live television.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform required tasks.
  • Possess manual dexterity sufficient to perform required tasks.
  • Possess the auditory acuity needed to effectively create required work product.
  • Must possess excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree is required. Communications or related major is preferred.

Position Reports to:

  • Director, Traffic

Pay Range: $30/hour

As a candidate for this position, your salary and related aspects of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills, and any other factors MLB Network considers relevant to the hiring decision.
