Job description

Our client is seeking a Certified Inpatient Coder to accurately assign ICD10CM and ICD10PCS codes for inpatient hospital records and review inpatient claims for accuracy and compliance. This role requires strong knowledge of MSDRGs, inpatient reimbursement, and clinical documentation standards, with a particular emphasis on claims review, denial analysis, and appeals. The coder will identify coding and documentation issues impacting reimbursement, prepare or support appeal responses, issue provider queries as needed, and collaborate with CDI, billing, and revenue integrity teams.

Qualified candidates must hold an active CIC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification and have 2+ years of inpatient coding experience. Candidates should be highly skilled in interpreting payer guidelines, defending coding decisions, and meeting quality and productivity benchmarks. Experience with audits, denials management, and successful appeals is strongly preferred.

Requirements:

  • Must have 2+ years of medical billing and coding experience and ICD-10 guideline knowledge
  • Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIP) certification
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Documentation Improvement Practitioner (CDIP) certificates with billing and coding experience, is acceptable
  • Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and DRG methodologies
  • Must have experience processing claims
  • Must be comfortable working in a full-remote environment with fixed schedule (M-F 8AM-5PM CST)


Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM CST
