Job description

Overview
The Senior End-User Computing (EUC) Engineer is responsible for overseeing the organization's end-user computing environment, ensuring the efficient operation, security, and optimization of desktop, laptop, and virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). This role involves advanced troubleshooting, leadership in project management, and collaborating with IT teams on technology strategy and integration. The Senior End-User Computing (EUC) Engineer will act as a key technical expert in designing and implementing complex desktop solutions across the enterprise. Pay range for the role is $140,000 to $150,000, with an annual bonus. The role can be 100% remote anywhere in United States.
Responsibilities
  • Advanced Desktop Infrastructure Management:
    • Architect, deploy and maintain the organization's desktop environments, including Windows-based physical and virtual desktops (VDI).
    • Develop and manage automated desktop deployments using tools such as Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) or equivalent technologies.
    • Design, implement, and maintain desktop images, ensuring they are optimized for performance and security.
  • Leadership and Strategy:
    • Lead desktop infrastructure projects, such as OS migrations, VDI implementations, and major software rollouts.
    • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff.
    • Collaborate with senior IT leadership to develop and implement long-term desktop technology strategies.
  • Security and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with internal security policies, industry standards, and audit requirements.
    • Lead initiatives to enhance desktop security, including endpoint protection, encryption, and vulnerability management.
    • Manage group policies, endpoint security software, and patch management processes using WSUS or other tools.
  • Troubleshooting and Escalation:
    • Serve as the highest escalation point for complex desktop-related issues, providing Level 3 support.
    • Perform in-depth root cause analysis for recurring or complex technical problems and implement preventative measures.
    • Provide expert support for remote access solutions, VPNs, and cloud desktop services.
  • Automation and Efficiency:
    • Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell and other tools to streamline desktop management tasks.
    • Continuously seek opportunities to improve end-user computing efficiency, including desktop performance tuning and reducing downtime.
  • System Integration:
    • Collaborate with server, network, and security teams to ensure the seamless integration of desktop systems into the broader IT infrastructure.
    • Ensure optimal configuration and performance of desktop environments within cloud services like Microsoft 365 and Azure Active Directory.
    • Manage and integrate virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware Horizon, Citrix, Hyper-V).
  • Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for desktop systems, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure knowledge sharing and training for IT staff on new technologies, best practices, and troubleshooting techniques.
    • Actively participate in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for desktop support.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in desktop engineering or support, with significant experience in enterprise-level desktop management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading major desktop infrastructure projects, including large-scale deployments, migrations, and VDI implementation.
  • Expertise in Microsoft technologies, including SCCM, Intune, and Active Directory.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows 10/11, Group Policy, and desktop management tools.
  • Strong PowerShell scripting skills for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V) and virtual desktop environments (VDI).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based services and integration (Microsoft 365, Azure AD, etc.).
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.
