POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Control / Shipping Lead is responsible for overseeing final quality assurance, shipment preparation, and order completion to ensure all costumes meet company standards prior to customer delivery.
This role serves as the final approval checkpoint before product release and is accountable for identifying defects, coordinating corrections, managing shipment readiness, and ensuring orders are shipped accurately and on schedule.
Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, leadership, organization, accountability, and the ability to manage changing priorities and seasonal production demands while maintaining quality standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALITY CONTROL & INSPECTION

  • Receive completed costumes from the Sewing Coordinator.
  • Verify quantities and photograph completed costumes for final designer approval.
  • Communicate immediately with the Sewing Coordinator regarding missing garments prior to quality inspection.
  • Perform final quality inspections on all costumes before shipment approval.
  • Identify, document, and communicate quality concerns including:
    • Fabric flaws
    • Sewing defects
    • Construction issues
    • Color or shade inconsistencies
    • Packaging or finishing issues
  • Determine pass/fail status and coordinate corrective actions when issues are identified.
  • Assign work and monitor team productivity to ensure quality and shipping deadlines are achieved.
  • Support daily quality control activities including:
    • Receiving costumes and check-in
    • Thread trimming and finishing
    • Defect identification and documentation

  • Adding final costume details (buttons, trims, finishing elements)
  • Packaging and shipment preparation
  • Track garments that require repair or sewing corrections and monitor completion status.
  • Coordinate with the Sewing Coordinator to ensure corrective actions are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Escalate quality concerns, production delays, staffing shortages, or resource constraints to management.
  • Maintain organization and inventory levels of shipping and packaging supplies.
  • Ensure quality records, shipment documentation, and order completion tracking remain accurate and up to date.
SHIPPING & ORDER COMPLETION

  • Fold, package, weight, label, and prepare costumes for shipment.
  • Coordinate and process customer shipments using approved shipping procedures.
  • Verify order accuracy prior to shipment release.
  • Ensure orders are completed and shipped within established deadlines.
  • Maintain shipment tracking and communicate exceptions or delays as needed.
  • Support shipment prioritization during peak production periods.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 23 years of experience in apparel production or quality control
  • Experience in uniform, athletic apparel, costume, or performance wear production preferred
  • Multilingual capabilities preferred, especially Spanish and/or Vietnamese
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED, or trade school education required
  • 3+ years of experience in garment production, sewing, quality control, or a related field
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, sewing techniques, and apparel production processes
  • Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret tech packs, patterns, specifications, and construction notes
  • Ability to identify defects and implement corrective actions
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality and accuracy
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and production schedules
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of FedEx Ship Manager a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on a production floor
  • Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds
  • Visual acuity required to inspect garments and construction details
  • Manual dexterity required to handle garments and operate equipment

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Office and manufacturing production environment with exposure to fabrics, materials, and production equipment
  • Frequent computer and system usage
  • Fast-paced, deadline-driven workflow, especially during peak band season
  • Frequent interaction with sewing, production, and quality teams

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt -Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm (Flexible start time with a set schedule )
