Job description

Commitment: Part-Time, Freelance, 10โ€“20 hours per week (flexible)

Location: Remote or San Diego Office

About CUENTO

CUENTO is a creative marketing agency built at the intersection of sports, culture, and brand storytelling. We create strategic, emotionally resonant work for brands, organizations, and teams across sports, enterprise, hospitality, lifestyle, and consumer categories.

Our client roster includes both sports and enterprise brands, requiring creatives who are adaptable, collaborative, and capable of working across a wide range of visual styles, audiences, and business objectives. Sports-related work is a significant part of our creative output, making this role especially wellโ€‘suited for someone energized by highโ€‘visibility campaigns, fast-moving timelines, and culturally relevant storytelling.

Job Summary

We are looking for an Email Marketing Specialist to own lifecycle and campaign email across a portfolio of brands. This is a handsโ€‘on, fractional role for someone who can plan a calendar, write copy, define creative needs, build a flow and read the reporting well enough to know what to fix next.

Youโ€™ll work across multiple clients at once, moving from a promotional send for one brand to a welcome flow rebuild for another, all in the same week. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable owning strategy (segmentation, flow logic, testing roadmap) and executing the details (copy, creative request, content sourcing, build, QA, deployment).

This role offers real ownership over a core channel from day one, with the opportunity to grow into a larger scope as client accounts expand.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Own email marketing calendars and send schedules across multiple client accounts
  • Build and optimize lifecycle flows (welcome, abandoned cart, post-purchase, winback, re-engagement)
  • Write email copy aligned with each clientโ€™s brand voice and campaign goals
  • Build, QA and deploy campaigns in platforms such as Klaviyo, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Salesforce Marketing Cloud, TM1 or comparable ESPs
  • Manage segmentation and list hygiene to improve deliverability and engagement
  • Partner with design/creative to develop email templates and campaign assets
  • Set up and monitor A/B tests (subject lines, send times, content, offers)
  • Track and report on core email KPIs: open rate, click rate, conversion rate, revenue per send, list growth
  • Coordinate email timing with broader marketing campaigns and promotional calendars
  • Stay current on deliverability best practices, platform features, and email trends
Requirements
  • 3โ€“5 years of handsโ€‘on email marketing experience
  • Proven experience building and optimizing lifecycle/flow programs
  • Proficiency in at least one major ESP (Klaviyo and HubSpot strongly preferred)
  • Strong writing skills and an eye for onโ€‘brand, onโ€‘voice copy
  • Comfortable working across multiple brands/clients simultaneously
  • Dataโ€‘driven approach to reporting and testing
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in DTC/e-commerce or B2C lifecycle email a plus
  • Familiarity with SMS marketing a plus

CUENTO is an equal opportunity employer. This partโ€‘time, freelance position is remote with the opportunity to work in the office in San Diego.
