Dewberry'sMEPS Infrastructure team is seeking anElectrical Department Manager for our Raleigh, NC specializing in Water/Wastewater. The successful candidate will be responsible for knowing how to successfully complete projects by leading a team of skilled electrical engineers and designers. A department manager assists Project/Client Managers by providing engineering resources to complete projects on schedule and in budget. Duties include mentoring, training, and leading an effective team of electrical engineers and designers.

The Department Manager's primary goal is to develop a technically strong team of engineers with the ability to execute projects in the W/WW market by providing mentorship and growth opportunities.

Key Skills and experience required:

  • BS in electrical engineering.
  • 12+ years of design or WW/W operation experience or industrial projects.
  • PE is required.
  • Musthave experience designingelectrical systems and producing design deliverable

Responsibilities

Department manager responsibility is to lead a team of engineers in order to execute projects. A successful department will need the following technical knowledge:

  • Technical and Quality oversight of all project work for discipline area.
  • Establishing/improving standards for discipline area.
  • Adherence to project design schedule.
  • Notification to Project/Client Managers if established project design schedule cannot be met. Notify in enough time to appropriately handle the situation, preferably at the latest 2 weeks prior.
  • Adherence to discipline project budget. Review and provide updates on project budgets at milestone dates. Reviewing discipline budgets weekly.
  • Attention to project scope during the design process to identify potential additional services.
  • Identify staff performing design of the project, along with a senior staff member if required.
  • Identify Engineer of Record.
  • Identify milestone dates when each discipline should provide information, at each phase, to allow sufficient time to good design coordination.
Required Skills & Required Experience
  • BS in electrical engineering.
  • 12+ years of design or WW/W operation experience or industrial projects.
  • PE is required.
  • Musthave experience designingelectrical systems and producing design deliverable
  • Proven leadership skills delegating to engineering and design staff.
  • Must be a self-starter with initiative, drive and determination.
  • Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Life Safety Codes, and other related Codes.
  • Good verbal, writing and interpersonal skills are essential for coordination with other disciplines, and client interface.
