Responsibilities
As a Digital Hardware Engineer within the Strategic Sensors team in the S ensing, Guidance & Navigation (SG&N) organization, you will be part of a team that is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge new products that leverage advanced technologies, particularly for Inertial Sensor & Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on next-generation products and new technologies on a team dedicated to pioneering new solutions in sensing and navigation.
In this role, you will collaborate with fellow engineers and scientists to design, develop and implement embedded FPGA-based digital hardware solutions that enhance the performance and capabilities of our next-generation Inertial Sensor and new Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) solutions. You will work on New Product Development and R&D programs for new Resonator Fiber Optic Gyroscope (RFOG) technologies, along with providing ongoing support and enhancements for existing sensing and guidance products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Digital hardware systems design, development, testing and integration
  • Develop and integrate embedded FPGA-based digital hardware solutions, ensuring compatibility with Inertial Sensors and RFOG technologies
  • Design and optimize FPGAs using VHDL
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in systems, software, and hardware engineering to integrate hardware and software components.
  • Testing and validating systems to meet performance, reliability and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware-related issues throughout the design and production phases
  • Document design specifications, testing protocols, and results
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in Embedded systems and FPGA technologies, incorporating best practices into the development process.

Qualifications
MUST HAVE:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Experience in embedded systems and digital hardware design and development
  • Strong proficiency in hardware description languages (e.g. VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog)
  • Open seniority leveling from Engineer III through Lead Engr levels

WE VALUE
  • Experienced in the design, development and integration of digital hardware solutions.
  • Experience with VHDL for FPGA and/or ASIC solutions is ideal.
  • Strong knowledge of digital hardware design, schematics, and circuit design principles.
  • Experience in New Product Development, Early Phase and/or R&D projects is of value.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to analyze complex systems.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, etc.) is of value.
  • Familiarity with inertial sensors, gyroscopes, or related navigation and sensing technologies is a plus.
