Job Description for Instrumentation Engineer requirement at Phoenix
Responsibilities of Role:

  • Work as an onsite PCIS Engineer (Controls and Instrumentation Engineer) in a process plant environment base in Phoenix.

  • Troubleshoot power and control system issues and repair or replace associated electrical components.

  • Execute approved process or equipment changes, optimizations, and upgrades.

  • System ownership (as needed) for a piece of equipment or technology area.

  • Breakdown elimination work.

  • After-hours, call-in availability as needed.

  • Participation in vendor and project meetings.

  • PCIS components procurement support.

  • Developing Safety Validation and obtaining approval from Company Safety SPOC.

  • Deliver designs and Engineering packages related to power and instrumentation installation for industrial plants.

  • Define the scope of work discussing with customers, coordinate with the offshore team and deliver the Engineering Deliverables.

  • Coordinate with Customer to collect all the required inputs to complete the Engineering Design.

  • Coordinate with vendors and construction team to get the required information for completing the design.

  • Attend design reviews along with customer and the construction team and get the necessary approvals.

  • Support in construction and start up activities.

  • Lead electrical startup of all process and packing equipment.

  • Flexible Startup support

  • PCIS Support during execution of EO

  • Support on Production improvements

  • Flexible Troubleshooting Support for Packing & Making process system

  • Participation in equipment installation and start-up

  • Participation in commissioning, qualification, and validation activities


Skills Required:

  • Should have worked as an Instrumentation and Control Design Engineer developing engineering design packages for industrial plants.

  • Should have Knowledge in specifying process plant instruments and hands on experience in selection of instrumentation.

  • Selection and design of controls and hardware for control and monitoring process plant instrumentation.

  • Instrumentation knowledge and experience – set-up, calibration verification, adjustments, etc.


Fisher Valves, Micro Motion Flowmeters, Rosemount transmitters, E+H Flowmeters and Transmitter, Rockwell control and communication system and Allen Bradly VFDs



  • Prepare Instrument Datasheets, IO Lists, Instrument List, Wiring Diagrams and Engineering Information.

  • Knowledge in PLC and SCADA systems for industrial networks.

  • Experienced in LV Electrical Distribution Design Power Distribution Panels, Motor Control Centers for process plants in compliance with NEC.

  • Knowledge on Machine Safety – CAT 3 wiring.

  • Knowledge on control panel design as per UL508A.

  • Previous experience with MCC’s, VFD’s, electrical troubleshooting, electrical schematics

  • Previous work experience in system commissioning and validation would be a plus.

  • Trained and qualified in NFPA70E requirements.
