Job description

For this position, we are looking for a full stack backend engineer, who will be working directly with the developers and architects.  Qualified candidates will be founding members of a new Fraud Engineering team at Sidecar.

You will work with internal and external partners tackling fraud from soup to nuts… from helping to define and isolate the problem space to engineering next-generation solutions. Your goals are simple: help zero in on fraudulent activity before it happens and make a significant impact on the company’s bottom line.

Currently our backend API is written in PHP using the Codeigniter framework and other technologies like node.js. To support and expand we are transitioning to python and hiring more top-notch senior developers with server side expertise.

Our office is located in downtown San Francisco and is full of smart, hard-working people collaborating to bring ride-sharing to everyone… and having a great time along the way!

Responsibilities

  • Strong engineering background coupled with experience around machine learning, pattern recognition, etc.

  • Code using primarily Python, Nodejs and PHP.

  • Work closely with other engineers on the team and build on each other’s ideas.

  • Participate in the design process and in code reviews.

  • Analyze and improve efficiency, scalability, and stability of various system resources.

  • Be proud of your work - what you do has a direct impact on our customers’ experience.

Requirements

  • Expert knowledge developing and debugging in PHP/Python.

  • Experience in the fraud space is a plus, but not required. Either way, you should be passionate about tackling the problem and the impact you can have on the company.

  • Passion for finding problems with software and helping ensure they never happen again.

  • Easily bored by monotony, would rather write a script to automate it.

  • BS / MS in Computer Science or related field.

Employment Type: Full-Time
