The Opportunity

You will own the financial integrity of the company as the senior finance voice in the room. This role is designed for an experienced construction accounting professional who can quickly take ownership of the finance function and operate independently. You will bridge our bookkeeper's daily execution, our project managers' job-level reality, and ownership's need for clear and timely information. You will install rhythm, structure, and reporting that holds up at enterprise scale.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • Own the monthly close process, working to close books by the 15th of the following month.
  • Review and approve all reconciliations for bank, credit card, AP, AR, and intercompany accounts.
  • Produce monthly financial statements and reconcile BuildOps job cost data to QuickBooks Online.
  • Own the monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedule and lead the monthly WIP review.
  • Apply percentage-of-completion accounting to track billings, retainage, and projected margins.
  • Maintain a rolling cash forecast and lead the weekly cash meeting.
  • Build annual budgets and produce weekly metric dashboards for ownership.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a controller, assistant controller, or senior staff accountant in commercial construction.
  • Deep working understanding of percentage-of-completion revenue recognition and WIP schedules.
  • Fluency in job costing with the ability to build job cost reports from scratch.
  • Advanced expertise in QuickBooks Online, including chart of accounts and custom reports.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Self-directed ability to set the rhythm without daily management.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Active CPA or CMA designation.
  • Experience with BuildOps, Procore, Sage 300 CRE, Foundation, or similar software.
  • Multi-entity or multi-LLC accounting experience.
  • Prior fractional controller or fractional-CFO experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation ranging from $4,000 to $6,500 monthly retainer or $85 to $125 hourly.
  • Defined path to a full-time Controller or Fractional CFO scope as revenue grows.
  • Direct weekly access to ownership and a clear mandate to install financial structure.
  • A modern tool stack utilizing QBO, Bill.com, and BuildOps.
  • Flexible hybrid schedule with minimal required on-site presence for month-end close.
