Job Title: Fractional Chief Financial Officer (Contract)

Location

Cincinnati, Ohio (and surrounding areas, including: Ft. Wright, KY and/or West Chester, OH). This is not a fully remote role. Must be located near Cincinnati or willing to relocate.

About the Engagement

This role is a contract position with Dean Dorton, providing fractional CFO services to our clients across a variety of industries. The selected candidate will work closely with Dean Dorton team members and client stakeholders to support accounting operations, financial reporting, and process improvements.

This role is responsible for overseeing financial strategy, improving financial operations, and advising executive leadership on key business decisions. The ideal candidate brings deep financial expertise, strong analytical skills, and experience working with growing organizations.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Financial Leadership
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute financial strategy to ensure long‑term sustainability
  • Provide insights on growth opportunities, profitability, and risk management
  • Support long‑term planning, including scenario modeling and forecasting
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)
  • Develop and maintain financial models, budgets, and forecasts
  • Analyze financial performance and provide actionable recommendations
Accounting, Reporting and Compliance
  • Oversee preparation and review of financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable standards
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls and financial processes
  • Improve financial systems, reporting tools, and workflows
  • Collaborate with accounting and operations teams on budget and efficiency strategies.
Stakeholder Communication
  • Present financial insights to leadership, board members, or investors
Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, or senior financial leader
  • Exposure to various industries, including manufacturing, construction, healthcare and distribution, and or private equity experience – a plus.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic financial leadership, FP&A, A&F operations oversight, financial department structuring and design, capital strategy, growth strategy.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities to collaborate effectively with senior executives and cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance standards in corporate finance is an asset.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; advanced degrees (e.g., MBA) or certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are preferred.
Compensation

$100/per hour – depending on experience

This role is a 1099 independent contractor engagement and is not eligible for employee benefits. The contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes and business expenses.
