Position Specific Description
Florida Power & Light is seeking highly skilled and experienced Underground Cable Splicers to join our dynamic and dedicated team. As a Cable Splicer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining underground distribution circuits, ensuring uninterrupted power supply to customers while adhering to all safety standards and regulations. Position may be based at any location throughout FPL's service territory in the state of Florida
Job Overview
Cable Splicer will be expected to perform all associated tasks with the construction and maintenance of all underground facilities. Must be able to trouble shoot and repair all underground distribution circuits and equipment. Cable Splicer may work alone or be assigned to work with other Splicers or lower classifications without the direct supervision of a higher level classification. Will be expected to safely perform all distribution underground switching and overhead switching as needed. May be required to work in inclement weather for extended hours, may be required to travel throughout the system in cases of emergencies and storms to restore the system. Will be responsible for all assigned work being done in accordance with all company design standards and work methods. Will be required to prepare all job associated paperwork.
Required Qualifications
  • Post-Offer Functional Capacity Eval
  • Commercial Driver's License, Class A
  • Must have satisfactorily completed the FPL apprentice cable splicer or another equivalent recognized program.
  • Must be physically able to do all assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to work in direct sunlight or at night.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years verifiable work experience as a Certified Cable Splicer
