Position Specific Description
The Financial Analyst I supports Energy, Marketing, and Trading (EMT) and Business Development activities through financial modeling, market analysis, and deal support. This role focuses on evaluating commercial opportunities, supporting transaction execution, and providing analytical insights to inform strategic decisions related to power, gas, and infrastructure investments. The position will provide analytical support to both EMT's Business Development and Business Management teams. The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting/finance knowledge, analytical capabilities, and the ability to collaborate across multiple business units to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate wholesale power, gas, and infrastructure transactions (e.g. asset acquisitions, optimization of FPL's system)
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis to assess market risks and value drivers (price curves, capacity factors, fuel costs)
  • Support valuation of structured deals, including power purchase agreements, gas supply contracts, and transmission arrangements
  • Assist in developing pro forma financials, NPV/CPVRR analyses, and cost-benefit evaluations
  • Partner with originators, traders, and analytics teams within EMT, and accounting, regulatory, FPL Finance, Legal, Risk, and others within the broader FPL

Job Overview
Employees in this role supports Senior Management decision making via financial modeling, including but not limited to, revenue requirement and customer bill impacts, discounted cash flow analysis and financial statement modeling. This position identifies and conducts moderately complex analyses of financial impacts of issues and/or decisions facing the company and proposes strategies to maximize financial performance of company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
• Identifies, analyzes, and communicates to management the impact on the Company's financial structure, profitability, financial integrity, and competitive position utilizing relevant analytical methods and/or department's forecasting models
• Provides financial analysis support for various projects, calculating revenue requirements, net present value, customer bill impact, etc.
• Provides expertise, support, and financial training for the company departments requiring these services
• Performs financial analyses as required by management or regulatory bodies
• Prepares PowerPoint presentations to be provided to Senior and Executive Management
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
• High School Grad / GED
• Bachelor's or Equivalent Experience
• Experience: 2+ years

• Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance
