Responsible for the managerial direction and growth of the construction group. The successful candidate will have construction management experience with the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the Illinois Tollway. Construction management experience with the City of Chicago, counties and local agencies in the greater Chicago area is a plus. This position offers exciting challenges and opportunities for managing all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, and resources; mentoring young staff engineers, assisting in transportation market business development and participating in professional organizations and technical committees.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You have bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management or related field from accredited program, and at least 15 years of experience. Being a licensed professional engineer is required.
  • You have proven work experience with IDOT, Tollway CDOT, counties and municipalities with construction management.
  • You understand all facets of the transportation construction process and standards (IDOT, Tollway, CDOT, FHWA, etc.).
  • You have advanced knowledge of roadway construction, construction details, and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
  • You're proficient with business and engineering applications.
  • You have great team and leadership skills. You also have excellent written & verbal communication skills.
  • You're ready for the next big thing. You're excited about the opportunity to lead a dynamic and growing team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
  • You'll manage and administer transportation construction projects, oversee and manage all construction staff to the highest efficiency and strengths.
  • You'll assist with business development & project pursuit management.
  • You'll assist with client coordination and overall planning.
  • You have team skills, communication skills, leadership and human resources management skills.
  • You'll be responsible for overall construction project coordination (internal and external).
  • You will provide work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.
  • You must be able to develop and implement QC plans, safety plans, and schedules.
  • You must be able to complete weekly/monthly reports on work progress, as well as conduct status meetings with the department/division manager to update status on the schedule and budget.
  • You'll coordinate and direct staff and subconsultants.
  • You'll perform direct reports performance reviews.
