Job description


THE DEPARTMENT:
The Information Technology Department is responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a secure technology infrastructure to support the Product, People, Promotion, Place and Profit areas of Helzberg Diamonds. It accomplishes this through the design, development and deployment of automated systems to meet the information and process needs of each major line of business: human resources, merchandise, marketing, finance, stores, and E-Commerce. In addition to these lines of business applications, the IT organization is responsible for the collection and correlation of all company electronic information assets into an enterprise Data Warehouse which is used to support the overall analytical and reporting information needs of the business.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Oracle Architecture is responsible for leading the design, development, and ongoing support of Helzberg Diamonds' Oracle ERP and related corporate systems. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with people leadership and cross-functional collaboration to ensure enterprise platforms effectively support Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Operations. The ideal candidate brings deep Oracle ERP experience, strong development and integration skills, and the ability to lead a team that partners closely with business stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Oracle ERP & Corporate Systems Leadership
  • Lead development, configuration, and extension of Oracle ERP solutions to support core business functions including Finance, Supply Chain, Inventory, and Operations.
  • Serve as a technical authority for Oracle ERP modules, integrations, and customizations.
  • Partner with functional leads and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective system designs and technical solutions.
  • Support ERP upgrades, enhancements, and roadmap planning, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards.
Development & Integration
  • Oversee design and development of custom solutions, integrations, and interfaces between Oracle ERP and surrounding systems (e.g., POS, eCommerce, data platforms, third-party vendors).
  • Establish and enforce development standards, code quality practices, testing, and deployment processes.
  • Ensure system reliability, performance, security, and scalability across corporate systems.
Team Leadership & People Management
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of ERP developers and analysts, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct code reviews, provide technical guidance, and support career development for team members.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and performance management for the Corporate Systems development team.
Stakeholder Partnership & Delivery
  • Act as a trusted technology partner to Finance, Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Operations leaders.
  • Balance project delivery, enhancement requests, and production support in alignment with business priorities.
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders and provide regular status updates on initiatives.

Operational Excellence
  • Ensure effective support and incident management for Oracle ERP and related systems.
  • Drive improvements in system stability, supportability, documentation, and monitoring.
  • Support IT governance, audit, and compliance requirements related to financial and operational systems.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position supervises a team of 4-5 Corporate Systems Developers and Analysts and will be responsible for the following:
  • Accomplish department objectives by directing and monitoring the work progress of direct report.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to direct report.
  • Set expectations, annual goals and provide required quarterly touch base meetings with all direct report.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of experience supporting and developing enterprise systems, with significant Oracle ERP experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical lead or team lead role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle ERP modules (e.g., Financials, Supply Chain, Inventory, Order Management).
  • Experience developing customizations, reports, and integrations within an Oracle ecosystem.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise systems lifecycle management, including upgrades and enhancements.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP (OCI / Fusion) environments.
  • Experience integrating Oracle ERP with retail or omnichannel systems (POS, eCommerce, WMS).
  • Familiarity with middleware, APIs, and integration platforms.
  • Experience working in a regulated or audit-heavy environment (e.g., SOX).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Work Schedule:
Hybrid schedule with predictable onsite attendance required three or more days per week to perform essential functions involving interactive behaviors with co-workers and managers, operation or manipulation of equipment and/or materials located only on site, and direct interaction with internal and/or external customers.
