The EVS Tech is an entry level position that requires no previous cleaning experience. The EVS Tech will learn how to maintain and promote a healthy and safe environment within the facility through reducing or eliminating the spread of infection. While training, the EVS Tech will also be responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual cleaning of patient rooms and non-patient care areas of the hospital.
Responsibilities of this position include:
  • Complete daily, isolation, and discharge/transfer cleaning of patient areas following Fort HealthCare cleaning procedures including use of patient interaction terminology.
  • Complete cleaning and relocating of medical equipment in outpatient and patient areas following Fort HealthCare cleaning procedures.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning of non-patient areas following Fort HealthCare cleaning procedures.
  • Respond to requests for specific cleaning tasks prioritizing emergency requests.
  • Follow Fort HealthCare guidelines when handling general and medical waste and soiled linen.
  • Collect and transport soiled linen, trash, recycling, and infectious waste from designated areas following Fort healthcare disposal procedures.
  • Vacuum carpeted corridoes, entrances, waiting and lobby areas as scheduled.
  • Wet/dry mop and machine scrub corridors, entrances, waiting and lobby areas as scheduled.
  • Maintains and stocks EVS storeroom as necessary, including putting away freight, stocking supply shelves, cleaning and organizing room.
  • Laundering of Mops, rags, and other cleaning supplies used by staff. Exchange and laundering of cubicle curtains. Laundering of other department items as requested.
  • Completes project work including walls/ceiling washing, vent cleaning, and other scheduled projects as necessary to maintain areas of the facility.
  • Maintains working knowledge of and follows safety and infection control standards.
  • Maintains working knowledge of and follows hospital/department Environment of Care Compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Completes department specific orientation and annual competencies for the position.

Requirements of this position include:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Cleaning experience preferred
  • Cleaning in healthcare, hospitality, commercial or private environment preferred.
