Job description

Job Title: Curriculum Facilitator 

 

FLSA Status: Exempt 

 

Days of Work: 210 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY 

 

Assists teachers in developing, testing, and implementing research based instructional strategies that will increase student achievement. Uses, analyzes, and reflects on formative assessment data to improve teaching and learning. Works with selecting, developing, implementing, and evaluating the school's curriculum. Makes recommendations concerning the curriculum to improve teaching and learning. Collaborates with the teachers, staff and administrators. 


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.) 
Facilitates and promotes a system of standards- based instruction and the implementation of the curriculum that will be used to increase student achievement. 
Promotes and coordinates the implementation of research- based instructional strategies.
Assists with school improvement plans and professional development plans. 
Promotes the utilization of action research, common formative assessments, and summative assessments to adjust classroom instruction. 
Works with individual teachers in developing lesson plans, assessments and project-based learning activities. 
Teaches model lessons where appropriate. 
Observes classroom teaching, collects a variety of data and assist  teachers with lesson plans, assessments, and instructional technology. 
 Communicates with teachers regularly concerning teaching and learning. 
 Ensures that all necessary instructional materials, technology and software programs are available to teachers. 
 Works diligent with teachers by responding to concerns and inquiries related to the curriculum. 
 Presents pertinent information to teachers in a variety of ways, staff development, book studies, speakers, meetings and conferences. 
 Meets regularly with the principal to coordinate instructional activities related to the district and school improvement plans. 
 Coordinates the development and application of common formative assessments. 
Is an active member of the school improvement team.
 Assists the principal in creating a calendar for school- wide professional development (PD) that is directly related to the curriculum and the school and district improvement plans.
Facilitates professional development activities by presenting directly to staff or scheduling individuals to present activities to staff. 















     

JOB SPECIFICATIONS 

 

Education and Experience: 

 

A valid South Carolina Teacher's Certificate with the appropriate endorsements, a Master's Degree or Higher is required. Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience. Minimum of one year of school leadership experience.  Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with others in a collaborative and cooperative manner.  
 

 

Knowledge: 

 

Knowledge of the policies, procedures and activities of the school District which pertain to the specific duties and responsibilities of the position; knowledge in the methods for developing lesson plans, materials and classroom activities which stimulate learning; knowledge of the records, forms and reports which must be prepared and maintained;knowledge of the materials and information which must be prepared for classroom instructional activities; knowledge of strategies for effective teaching and learning; knowledge of establishing goals and team building. 

   

Skills/Effort: 

 

Ability to utilize a variety of data to assist with improving teaching and learning; ability to assist teachers, and paraprofessionals with prepare lesson plans, tests, and instructional materials; ability to communicate with others effectively when writing and speaking; skillful in monitoring current trends and strategies related to teaching and learning;ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships; Must be able to work well with others. 

   

Working Conditions: 

 

Works in a school environment with limited exposure to environmental conditions; physical demands are restricted to classroom work requiring the lifting/moving of items weighing up to ten pounds; occasional local travel is required; occasional overnight travel may be required.
