Technical Sales Manager – Footwear Components (Insoles, Midsoles & Outsoles)

INSITE® is seeking a dynamic and technically skilled Technical Sales Manager to drive sales growth for our advanced insole, midsole, and outsole technologies. Based in Los Angeles, and reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, this role will serve as a critical link between our customers—leading global and regional footwear brands—and our internal business development, product, and development teams.

The ideal candidate will combine a strong understanding of footwear bottom engineering with proven sales acumen. You will identify customer needs, present innovative material and component solutions, and manage projects from design through commercialization.

Responsibilities of the Role

The key responsibilities for the Technical Sales Manager include, but is not limited to:

  • Develop and execute sales strategy to grow business with footwear brands and manufacturing partners across assigned accounts.
  • Act as the primary technical representative for customers, building strong relationships based on trust, performance, and expertise.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Development Directors to align brand strategies, pricing, and product pipeline priorities.
  • Present and demonstrate product technologies, performance data, and material samples to brand development teams.
  • Manage technical discussions between customers and internal R&D, ensuring product solutions meet design and performance requirements.
  • Identify new business opportunities within existing accounts and prospect new brand partnerships.
  • Provide market intelligence on trends, materials, competitors, and innovation opportunities.
  • Ensure timely coordination between customer requests, internal sourcing, and commercial product development.
  • Achieve and exceed annual sales targets while maintaining high standards of professionalism and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 7+ years of technical sales or business development experience in the footwear, sporting goods, or materials industries.
  • Strong understanding of footwear construction, materials, and product development cycles.
  • Proven ability to manage technical projects and communicate effectively with both design and development stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to work both independently and in collaboration with global teams.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
