POSITION SUMMARY

A Helper Clerk is responsible for each customer having an exceptional experience throughout their transaction at the register and afterwards as desired by each customer. This position is also responsible, through coordination by Front End management, for general sales floor and Front End cleanliness and organization to position coworkers to operate efficiently and customers to have an extraordinary time at the Co-op. A Helper Clerk completes these responsibilities in a manner that upholds the values of Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op and the cooperative identity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Uphold all Co-op policies, procedures and expectations.
  2. Department Operations and Customer Experience
  3. Exceed our customers’ expectations for service and provide a welcoming environment for all people and all diverse backgrounds and in accordance with the Co-op’s customer service standards.
  4. Model, provide, and ensure customers receive prompt, friendly and courteous services in a professional manner that markets our cooperative advantage.
  5. Maintain a calm and friendly demeanor with all customers and in all situations.
  6. Load customer purchases into bags with efficiency and care, and help customers transport their purchases to their vehicle.
  7. Assist customers with special order pickups.
  8. Maintain cleanliness of the sales floor, and grounds at the direction of Front End management.
  9. Ensure that supplies are well-stocked throughout the Front End.
  10. Check prices, clean spills, restock items, and perform other duties as needed.
  11. Return carts and containers to their proper locations in a safe and efficient manner.
  12. Clerk Duties
  13. Adhere to scheduled shifts and be ready for work when shift begins.
  14. Wear proper clothing in accordance with the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-op Dress Code during shift, including apron and nametag.
  15. Maintain accurate and attractive signage throughout the Front End.
  16. Keep the Front End orderly and clean.
  17. Other Duties
  18. Assist in inventory counts, storewide cleaning, and other projects as needed.
  19. Attend meetings and events as requested.
  20. Ensure equipment repair and maintenance is communicated to appropriatepersonnel and make adjustments until equipment has been improved.
  21. Demonstrate support for the cooperative values and principles daily.
  22. Perform other duties and work in other departments as assigned.
  23. Know and uphold the Employee Handbook consistently.
  24. Must be available to work hours based on the needs of the business and the department.
