The Opportunity
The Plant Manager leads all plant operations and continuous improvement activities with overall responsibility for Production, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality, and other production support areas. This role will achieve excellence through people leadership and growth, driving employee engagement, and meeting or exceeding the expectations of our customers. The Plant Manager will also focus on optimizing throughput and controlling cost, while maintaining quality standards, food safety, authenticity, legality, quality, prerequisite programs, policies, and procedures that result in maximizing profitability. Production Operations include extrusion, spray drying, blending, repackaging, sifting, toll processing, turnkey processing, and packaging of dry goods for the food industry.
Key Responsibilities
  • Achieves business results through data analysis and driving continuous improvement projects to optimize operations and equipment and improve productivity to meet and exceed business objectives; works on strategic projects that have plant and company-wide impact. Effectively leverages the leadership team to solicit ideas and understand problems and challenges in the plant.
  • Ensures the compliance of safety, environmental and quality guidelines, and policies, and as required by regulations and customer requirements. Ensure compliance, safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience.
  • Sets clear goals and expectations for Managers and Supervisors. Measures performance, provides feedback, and holds leaders accountable.
  • Mentors and grows all employees. This includes providing regular evaluation of performance and giving feedback.
  • Directly leverages and indirectly manages resources located at the plant in the areas of purchasing, finance, human resources, and information technology.
  • Owns and delivers the operational budget for functional area. Identifies capital required to run the plant more efficiently. Create plans to assist in the implementation of all capital equipment, from the equipment purchase, through implementation, and final debugging of the equipment.
  • Coordinates plant activities through planning with onsite and offsite resources to ensure the manufacturing objectives are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop and implement capital spending plans that meet the ongoing needs for facilities, equipment, and productivity improvements.
  • Maintains existing plant facilities and equipment; replace or adjust plant facilities and equipment when necessary.
  • Provides clear communication with workforce; ensure departmental work methods are compatible with company standards and customer requirements.
  • Point of contact for all federal or state agency visits and emergencies. Ensures rapid communication to vested stakeholders and takes steps necessary to project PacMoore employes and the Company's assets.
  • Models company values.
  • Determines staffing needs based on production schedules. Analyzes skill requirements and ensures training and/or hiring to ensure adequate, skilled staffing.
  • Partners with corporate resources, (Lead Trainer, Safety Manager, Quality Manager) ensure the training of all employees on production, safety, and quality-related procedures.
  • Collaborate with commercial team and other locations to ensure meeting customer requirements. Effectively communicates with customers as required.
  • Reports plant performance and communicate critical issues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university
  • 8 or more years of related experience within a food manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Understanding of TPM and similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to define problems, collects data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others.
  • Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources
  • Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
  • Experience with 24/7 Operations.
  • Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
