ELECTRICAL ENGINEER I – KALAMAZOO, MI

JOB DESCRIPTION

Leadership position to oversee our machine control and facility electrical systems and ensure they are reliable and current. Work with plant maintenance to develop and lead initiatives to provide continuous reduction machine down time related to machine controls.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS:

· Review our machine controls and facility electrical systems and identify opportunities/needs for upgrades.

· Identify areas of risk for systems failure. Assess, prioritize and implement upgrades

· Plan and execute upgrades

· Monitor systems reliability and ensure program is in place to provide feedback

· Improve systems consistency between locations

· Troubleshoot machine control problems. Implement fix to root cause.

· Develop and conduct training programs for our electricians/electronic techs

· Ensure control systems have adequate documentation and are accessible.

· Develop PM programs for control systems

· Review controls systems on new equipment purchases

· Other duties as necessary.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

Project Management:

· Ability to develop project structure, scope, timelines, schedule, and budget utilizing Gantt chart software.

· Ability to conduct effective meetings, monitor status and communicate w/team, customers & management.

· Ability to establish and build relationships with internal/external customers.

Design/Product Design:

· Demonstrates mechanical aptitude skills.

· Demonstrates troubleshooting/root cause analysis ability

· Ability to identify design improvements.

Process Improvement:

· Demonstrates awareness of emerging technologies in manufacturing environment.

· Ability to manage and analyze data.

· Ability to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities.

· Ability to plan and implement a project.

Safety:

· Demonstrates ability to identify industry specific regulations and adhere to industry standards.

· Demonstrates ability to comply with major Federal and State industrial safety regulations and industry and professional standards.

· Demonstrate ability to understand and actively participate in all company safety programs, policies and procedures.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

· BSEE degree from an accredited university or Engineering technical College with minimum 7 years of relevant experience

· Experience working with machinery in a manufacturing plant setting

· Strong hands-on skills

· 5 years of experience in programming and troubleshooting PLC’s

· Experience troubleshooting servo drive systems

· Experience in AC drives

· Demonstrated experience in analyzing and solving problems

· Computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.).

Compensation:

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $120,000 - 130,000 + bonus + benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. At Novolex, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
