Role Overview


Work Location: Flexible (All over the USA)


We are seeking a Process Design Engineer to support automation initiatives and lean manufacturing practices within a growing manufacturing organization. This role will be instrumental in driving operational excellence, process optimization, and innovation across manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will lead advanced manufacturing initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and champion continuous improvement efforts. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in power product manufacturing processes and a proven track record of delivering process improvements in a dynamic, global environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes for power products, including UPS systems, DC power supplies, and related electronic assemblies, from prototype through full-scale production.
  • Conduct process simulations, feasibility studies, and risk assessments to optimize production workflows, reduce cycle times, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) methodologies to identify manufacturing risks early in the product development cycle and recommend design improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with product design teams to ensure manufacturability, cost efficiency, quality, and ease of assembly.
  • Lead root cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions using methodologies such as FMEA and Six Sigma.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process flow diagrams.
  • Support the selection, installation, qualification, and validation of manufacturing equipment and tooling related to power electronics assembly.
  • Analyze production data and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for process improvements, cost reductions, and waste elimination.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, safety regulations, and industry certifications.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and production personnel on manufacturing best practices and continuous improvement methodologies.

Required Skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with ERP systems (such as SAP) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.
  • Understanding of sustainable manufacturing practices, energy-efficient processes, and environmentally responsible materials.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing process design for power products, power electronics, UPS systems, DC power systems, or related industries.
  • Strong expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA), with demonstrated success improving product reliability and reducing manufacturing costs.
  • Knowledge of power electronics manufacturing processes, including PCB assembly, thermal management, component integration, and product testing.
  • Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD, along with process simulation tools.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across global and cross-functional teams.
