FMA also acts as a key talent laboratory for the firm, with many of BlackRock's senior leaders having built their careers through the group and taken on broader leadership roles across the platform.

About the Role

We are looking to recruit a Director to join FMA, based in New York City.

This position will play a central role in shaping and delivering FMA's strategy in the Americas, combining senior-level client advisory, commercial leadership and talent development. The Director will be expected to act as a senior thought partner to FMA leadership, helping to identify priority themes, grow key client relationships, and build new advisory and investment collaboration opportunities aligned with BlackRock's broader commercial objectives.

The role includes project execution, idea generation for new business opportunities, relationship management, business development, and advising clients on complex capital markets challenges in partnership with the group's subject matter experts.

Externally, the role involves engagement with senior stakeholders across the region's financial services and public sector ecosystems. Internally, the Director will leverage BlackRock's capabilities across Capital Markets, Aladdin, Research and other businesses, acting as a connector across the platform.

  • Leading engagement design and planning, acting as the central point of coordination across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Serving as a primary daytoday liaison with clients, including senior executive stakeholders.
  • Playing a handson role in project execution through content creation, problem solving, quantitative analysis and provision of solutionsoriented advice.
  • Driving meaningful commercial impact, including originating new engagements, expanding existing relationships, and translating ideas into scaled advisory or investment collaborations.
  • Interacting with BlackRock and client senior management, industry participants, lenders, developers and other investors.
  • Acting as a senior leader, mentor and coach to the team, developing talent, strengthening project leadership capabilities, and fostering a collaborative and highperformance culture.

Knowledge/Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in the financial sector, with a preference for investment or corporate banking, strategy consulting, advisory or investment experience.
  • Demonstrated record of commercial impact, including business building, revenue generation, or expansion of senior client relationships.
  • Deep understanding of capital markets, with broad-based experience across a range of asset classes, including in private markets.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the operating model and balance sheets of key financial ecosystem participants such as banks, insurance companies, pension funds and other asset owners.
  • Comfort operating in ambiguous environments, with the judgement and drive to build new client solutions or offerings where no predefined playbook exists.
  • Strategic mindset, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior executives and to shape longerterm agendas.
  • Strong entrepreneurial orientation, with a track record of identifying opportunities and translating them into tangible outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and coach diverse teams in a highintensity environment.
  • Excellent problemsolving abilities, intellectual curiosity and sound judgement.
