Job description

RESIDENTIAL FLOORING ADVISOR — AFS DESIGN STUDIO

America's Floor Source (AFS), one of the nation's largest flooring companies, is seeking an elevated full-time sales professional to join our team at the AFS Design Studio in Carmel, Indiana. This is not a typical retail sales role. We are looking for someone who brings both proven sales ability and a genuine design sensibility — a professional who is as comfortable discussing aesthetics and lifestyle as they are closing a sale. If you thrive in a sophisticated, design-forward environment and love working with discerning clients on meaningful projects, this position was built for you.

Our Design Studio:

AFS Indianapolis is proud to open a dedicated Design Studio inside the Indiana Design Center in the heart of the Carmel Arts & Design District. This is more than a showroom — it is a curated destination where clients, builders, and design professionals come to experience our premium product offerings in an elevated, inspiring environment. As our Design Studio Flooring Advisor, you will be the face of this experience, guiding clients through one of the most important decisions in their home — and doing it with expertise, warmth, and style.

About the Role:

The Residential Flooring Advisor at the AFS Design Studio serves a clientele that expects more — more knowledge, more attentiveness, more design perspective. You will consult with homeowners and interior designers to understand their vision and translate it into the right flooring and material selections. You will manage the full sales process from initial consultation through project close, while also contributing to the ongoing presentation and upkeep of the showroom. A background in high-end retail, interior design sales, or luxury home products is strongly preferred. Flooring knowledge is essential — but so is the ability to see the bigger picture of how a space should feel.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of flooring or related high-end residential sales experience — mandatory
  • Demonstrated ability to work with elevated clientele and premium product lines
  • Design sensibility and an eye for color, texture, pattern, and spatial composition
  • Knowledge of measuring and estimating
  • Ability to present and demonstrate our full product portfolio (carpet, hardwood, tile, resilient, stone, and more) and guide clients to confident decisions
  • Professional presence and exceptional interpersonal skills — this role is highly visible
  • First-rate verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Well-versed in Windows PC applications with the ability to learn new systems
  • Solid math skills
  • Ability to remain focused and productive in an elevated, client-facing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in interior design, design sales, or luxury home furnishings retail
  • Experience working with interior designers and architects
  • Familiarity with design software or product specification tools
  • Experience in showroom environments with a focus on client experience and visual merchandising

What We Offer:

  • A truly unique work environment — a brand-new, professionally designed studio in one of Carmel's most prestigious design destinations
  • The resources and product breadth of one of the nation's largest flooring companies, with the culture and feel of a locally led, people-first team
  • Full benefits package available after 90 days of full-time employment
  • 401(k) plan with employer match available after 6 months of employment

About America's Floor Source:

Since 2000, the Columbus-based America's Floor Source has become one of the nation's largest flooring companies, providing quality flooring products and professional installation services to homeowners, homebuilders, property managers, wholesalers, and business owners throughout the Midwest. The AFS Indianapolis branch has grown from a team of 12 to over 60 professionals and $35 million in annual revenue — built on a culture of process, collaboration, and doing the right thing. We conduct thorough background checks. For more information, visit AmericasFloorSource.com.

Compensation: $25,000-$150,000 annually plus commission.
