Job description

Synectic Solutions is seeking Systems Engineer (Journeyman) to support the H-60 Multi-Mission Helicopters Program Office (PMA 299) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will be serving as the Deputy for the Engineering Lead position providing systems engineering Support to the Mission Systems Integrated Product Team (IPT) for MH-60R/S helicopter sensor systems.  The candidate will support the evaluation of their technical performance, mission suitability and associated acquisition risks throughout the full acquisition process and lifecycle for various mission systems to include Acoustic sensors, Radar, FLIR, and EO/IR systems.  Work location is on-site in the Program Office spaces in Building 2272. Travel requirements are approximately two trips a year for a total of two weeks.
Responsibilities 

  • Applies technical knowledge and systems engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, engineering change proposals, flight clearances/airworthiness, configuration management, and risk management.
  • Review and prepare engineering and technical analyses, reports, and other technical documentation.
  • Review and prepare and process engineering change proposals (ECPs).
  • Review and prepare technical documentation for Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) events and lead SETR events as required.
  • Facilitate the preparation of Engineering/Data Requirements Acceptance Plans (EDRAPs), and support airworthiness actions and flight clearance processes.
  • Facilitate the development of SOWs and CDRLs.
  • Identify, diagnose and develop solution for modern complex systems engineering issues focused on acoustics and sensors to include but not limited to the AN/AQS-22 Airborne Low Frequency Sonar (ALFS) dipping sonar systems, the Digital Magnetic Anomaly Detection (DMAD), the MH-60R Multi-Spectral Targeting System (MTS), and the Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR).
  • Gather, analyze, document, and manage technical and performance requirements from all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Summarizing data, observations, and findings to support the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, program offices, contractors, and external agencies.
  • Prepare clear, concise, technical documents, including gap analyses, plans, and regular status reports/briefings.

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance.
  • Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university
  • At least seven (7) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category description is required.
  • Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with acoustic sensor systems is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with RADAR systems is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with FLIR and Electro-Optical/Infra-Red is highly preferred.
  • Experience in Mine-Countermeasures (MCM) is a positive.
  • Strong background in systems integration of mission systems within a DoD or Naval Aviation environment.
  • Must have experience preparing and reviewing engineering documentation, specifications, and technical risk assessments for acoustics or sensor systems.
