Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The GIS/Geospatial Technician will work closely with the Sr. Manager – Data R&D to formulate solutions to novel issues facing stakeholder industries. They will provide insights and practical solutions with the goal of increasing process efficiency and data quality.  This position supports the research, development, and deployment of data products and development systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Verify data by comparing it to source documents
  • Review data issues providing specific details
  • Create and maintain new and current source documents
  • Create and maintain large spreadsheets
  • Automate data supply lines
  • Identify areas for AI optimization
  • Participate in the creation of reports and maps for various departments

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Familiarity with GIS software and spatial data concepts, including vector/raster datasets, coordinate systems, and spatial analysis workflows.
  • Basic coding or scripting experience in Python.
  • Exposure to spatial databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL/PostGIS.
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve, troubleshoot technical issues, and develop efficient workflows.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, software platforms, and analytical methods quickly.
  • Experience working with automation tools, APIs, or data processing pipelines is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn, grow, and adapt to the evolving needs of the team.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geography, GIS, Geospatial Sciences, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Data Analytics
  • Interest in geospatial analytics, artificial intelligence, imagery analysis, or spatial problem-solving is highly desirable.
