Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Geospatial Engineer to join our team and support the Sentinel Program. This role will be based in Roy, UT.

What You'll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will become a Principal/Sr. Principal Geospatial Engineer on the Infrastructure Design Team (INF). This position will fill a critical technical role within a diverse team. The qualified candidate will administrate and maintain enterprise level geospatial databases, as well as perform analyses on these databases to support design activities and technical studies.

Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following:

Compile a variety of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Building Information Model (BIM) data sources to develop and maintain a complex geospatial database.

Develop/maintain enterprise geodatabases utilizing ESRI ArcSDE and Microsoft SQL Server.

Experience with automation or scripting (Python, SQL, PowerShell, or shell scripting).

Perform analyses on this database to support design activities and technical studies.

Responsible for collecting geospatial data and utilizing the outputs of the geospatial analysis.

Experience developing database tools, conversion applications, and automate workflows for data manipulation and deliverables using ArcGIS Enterprise.

Configure and administer AWS/Azure cloud services supporting GIS infrastructure including EC2 and RDS.

Well-versed in ArcGIS Enterprise cloud-based environments (AWS/Azure, DevOps, Kubernetes).

Coordinate closely with key personnel responsible for collecting geospatial data and utilizing the outputs of the geospatial analysis.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Geospatial Engineer: B.S. in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering or related field with 5 years' experience; 3 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 1 year experience with a PhD.
  • Sr. Principal Geospatial Engineer: B.S. in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering or related field with 8 years' experience; 6 years' experience with a Master's degree; or 4 years' experience with a PhD.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP) clearance as a condition of continued employment.
  • Must have five years of progressive GIS server experience.
  • Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS and Mapping Tool Suite: ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Monitor.
  • Knowledge of administration and testing of Enterprise GIS and Database Projects.
  • Demonstrated communication skills and flexibility.
  • Experience with Microsoft (MS) Word, Excel, Power Point, and Engineering Scheduling tools and applications, and be able to use the Internet as an information gathering and communications tool.
  • Works well with teams, collaborating with the requirements team as well as product leads and subject matter experts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with automation or scripting (Python, SQL, PowerShell, or shell scripting).
  • Develop/maintain enterprise geodatabases utilizing ESRI ArcSDE and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Experience supporting Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) programs or projects.
  • Knowledge of enterprise geodatabases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) supporting ArcGIS Enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency with multi-user geodatabase management using Branch Versioning.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance with the most recent investigation completed in the last 6 years.
  • Must be able to work independently, function in a dynamic environment, and be flexible to changing direction.
  • Familiarity with SDSFIE and BIM
Primary Level Salary Range: $89,400.00 - $134,200.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
