Cisco XR Migration Engineer Global Part Time ASAP Start Date 14 Feb 2027 End Date $70- $85 Hourly

About This Job

We are seeking a remote Cisco XR Migration Engineer based in the US, to join our team for evening works, 40 hours per month, between midnight and 8am (TBC) to assist with a migration. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco XR, ASR/NCS platforms, Cisco IOS, and ISP-grade networking. This role is perfect for someone who is looking for a remote work, after hours contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Migrate Cisco IOS to Cisco XR.
  • Excellent command of classic Cisco IOS
  • Solid grasp of ISP-grade networking (not just enterprise): BGP, IS-IS or OSPF, MPLS, QoS
  • CLI troubleshooting, NOC collaboration, rollback handling.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cisco IOS XR (ASR/NCS platforms)
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project timelines and objectives are met.
  • Comfortable working independently overnight on live systems.
  • Familiarity with cutover scripts, config templates, rollback strategies.
High Level Scope of Work
  • Perform pre-maintenance checks on Cisco IOS & IOS XR devices
  • Execute scripted cutovers from IOS to IOS XR
  • Perform post-change validations to ensure service & circuit health
  • Troubleshoot issues and rollback to IOS if necessary
  • Coordinate service verification with the client’s NOC

Note: This is not a general enterprise networking role – you need real-world ISP infrastructure experience and strong XR familiarity.
