What Are CCNA Routing & Switching Jobs?

Some Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) routing and switching jobs include network administrator and network technician. As a CCNA routing and switching professional, you install and configure switches and routers to ensure optimal network performance. As a network administer, your responsibilities are to train and add new users, upgrade and maintain an organization’s computer network, and troubleshoot network operations. Your duties as a CCNA network technician include evaluating network performance, installing and designing well-functioning networks, configuring and testing software, doing regular backups of information and data, and scheduling maintenance and upgrades. There may be similar jobs that require this certificate but do not use the term “routing and switching.”

What is the average CCNA salary?

The average salary for a CCNA Routing and Switching certified professional typically ranges from $50,000 to $80,000 annually, depending on experience, location, and the specific role. Entry-level positions may start lower, while experienced network engineers can earn higher salaries with additional certifications and skills in network design and security.

Is Cisco CCNA still worth IT?

The Cisco CCNA Routing and Switching certification remains valuable in the IT industry, as it validates foundational networking skills and knowledge of Cisco devices, which are widely used in enterprise networks. It can enhance job prospects for roles such as network technician, administrator, or engineer, especially when combined with practical experience and other certifications. However, staying current with evolving technologies like cloud computing and cybersecurity is also important for long-term career growth.

What jobs can you do after CCNA?

After earning a CCNA certification, you can pursue roles such as network technician, network administrator, network engineer, or systems engineer. These positions involve configuring, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure using Cisco devices and networking protocols.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CCNA Routing and Switching professional, and why are they important?

To thrive as a CCNA Routing and Switching professional, you need a solid understanding of networking fundamentals, IP addressing, and routing and switching concepts, typically validated by the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. Familiarity with Cisco routers and switches, network management tools, and command-line interfaces is essential for this role. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills help professionals excel in diagnosing and resolving network issues. These competencies ensure reliable network performance, security, and support for organizational connectivity needs.
