About the Role

Flex is hiring an Associate General Counsel, Product & Regulatory to join our Legal team. This role is an embedded legal and regulatory partner across Flex's Product, Engineering, Finance, and Business Development teams. You will counsel on product development and launches, navigate consumer financial regulation, and help shape how Flex builds compliantly at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Advise cross-functional stakeholders on new features, product enhancements, and go-to-market strategy
  • Regulatory change management; monitor the consumer financial landscape and translating developments into actionable guidance for the policy team and business
  • Advise senior leaders on consumer regulatory risk, enforcement trends, and litigation exposure across Flex's product lines
  • Partner with the Commercial team to review and negotiate business development and partnership agreements, providing regulatory and legal guidance on consumer finance terms and obligations.
  • Contribute to legal technology initiatives, including tools and workflows that support the Product and Regulatory function.
  • Contribute to building a modern, AI-native legal department developing workflows and tools that allow legal to move at the speed of the business.

What We're Looking For

  • 7+ years of legal experience in consumer financial services with exposure to fintech lending, bank-fintech partnership structures, state licensing, and federal and state consumer protection regulation.
  • Fluency across consumer financial regulation - CFPB rulemaking, TILA/Reg Z, UDAP/UDAAP, money transmission, and state licensing requirements for servicing and brokering.
  • Demonstrated experience as an embedded legal partner to product teams - comfortable advising on feature launches and speaking to regulatory risk at the leadership level.
  • Thrives in a fast-moving environment - able to assess risk and provide sound guidance even when the full picture isn't yet clear.
  • Clear, concise communicator who translates complex legal and regulatory concepts into plain language for business audiences.
  • JD from an accredited law school; active bar admission required

  • Experience with rent-adjacent fintech, payments, or embedded finance products
